Paul, known as ‘Buzzer’ to his friends, played for Eglish for many years from underage through to Senior level and also represented Tyrone at Minor and Under 21 level. Paul had a lot of success as a player and won Minor Championship medals in 1986 and 1987. Paul was the captain of that successful 1986 Minor side. At senior level Paul won an Intermediate Championship medal in 1997. Success also followed Paul at county level with Tyrone as he collected an Ulster Championship winners medal in 1990 and they progressed to an All Ireland final, eventually losing out to Kerry. Once his playing days had finished Paul went into management and had overseen successful stints at both Killeshil and Scotstown, and was due to take charge at Galbally for the current 2012 season until his recent illness. All at St. Patrick’s Eglish G.A.C. and Camogie Clubs extend their deepest sympathy to the Hughes family (Eglish and Galbally) at this difficult time. Paul was a very popular character among all his friends and will be sadly missed by all within our club. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. If you would like to leave a message these will all be collated and passed onto the family. Please fill in the form below. 2 RESPONSES TO “BOOK OF CONDOLENCES – PAUL “BUZZER” HUGHES” 1. Kieran Dynes from Clonmore says: it’s with great sadness I ( like everyone else) have to write this message Paul was a great friend to me although we had drifted apart in recent years We both attended St pats Dungannon at remained friends since then. Paul travelled With me quite allot to the USA while I was competing in Motoracing And he actually got me to the USA for the very first time to play for St Brendans in chicago the day I left was the 12th of July 1993 and it was Paul Who took me to the airport and a few days later he joined me in the windy city there are lots of stories I could tell, we had great criac in the states Over the years. I informed a friend of mine( Paul knew also) in Tennessee this week of Paul’s passing and his words were “Paul was a real comedian” and he was I think we all can agree on that. When I was told he was not well I went to see him in the Royal even though he was visibly weak and very tired he greeted me with ” young Dynes it’s great to see you” I spent an hour with him catching up on old times and of course a few laughs unfortunately that’s the last time I talked to him as he was then moved to London a few days later, I thought he was going to make it but unfortunately it was not meant to be. To Noleen, Sean, Matthew and Amy, his mother and Ambrose And the kelly family We offer of sincere condolences it’s not right for this to happen, God bless and watch over you all..
