DANIELLE ZAFIROVSKI and JAMES THOMAS ELMHIRST Menu * Home * Details * RSVP * Wedding Party * Travel More PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR WEDDING CELEBRATION ON June 15, 2024 35 days until the big day! OUR STORY The love story of Danielle and James – A classic tale of The Tortoise and the Hare: Slow and steady won the race. In 2012, Danielle and James met at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Danielle, a young first-year student, caught the eye of second-year, James. After many rejections, Danielle finally caved – It may have been James’ moves to Avicii’s Levels on the dance floor at The Ale House, his ridiculously good looks, or his persistency. While their relationship began in Kingston, it quickly took to the global stage. That year, in second semester, James traveled to Glasgow, UK to study abroad. Despite the distance, the pair remained in close contact. At the end of the Queen’s semester, Danielle traveled to Barcelona, Spain for a summer exchange. James quickly followed. After ‘impressing’ Danielle with his consumption of Spanish seafood, James asked Danielle if she would be his girlfriend. To his surprise, she said “yes.” Next stop, the new couple hopped on a plane to Berlin, Germany. Shortly thereafter, the couple found themselves distanced once again – Danielle headed back to Canada, and James traveled to Gdansk, Poland to volunteer at the UEFA Euro Cup soccer tournament. Upon return to Toronto, Danielle made her Elmhirst family debut at Mary and Norm’s cottage, before attending Jackie and Pete’s wedding that August. James had an equally intimidating introduction to the Zafirovski family, after Danielle warned James that her dad, Zoran, had his black belt in karate and had a sword in their front entrance closet. After surviving the initial test, James quickly embraced Danielle’s family’s Macedonian culture, earning brownie points from eating an unhealthy number of hot peppers and teaching a business workshop in Skopje, Macedonia. Danielle and James’ relationship continues to blossom and cover more countries. Together, Danielle and James have explored 36 countries, from Anguilla to Finland. They own a house together, and they are now proud parents to a kitten named Banksy. Danielle and James are excited for the next chapter in their story, and are excited for you all to continue to support their love story.
