If you're intending to travel to the United States for less than 90 days, either as a tourist, or on business, you must apply for your ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization). ESTA is a program administered by the US government that allows eligible travelers from certain countries to visit the US for business or tourism for up to 90 days without obtaining a visa. In order to be eligible for an ESTA, travelers must have a passport from a participating country, and must not have any criminal convictions or be seeking to enter the US for reasons other than business or tourism. In addition, travelers must provide their itinerary and contact information when applying for an ESTA. If approved, travelers will receive an email confirming their ESTA status, which will be valid for two years. Once in the US, travelers with an ESTA are able to move freely within the country and engage in activities such as sightseeing, visiting relatives, or attending business meetings or conferences. If you require multiple ESTA's for your family, partner or group of friends you can complete all these applications in one order using this service. After completing your data on the form, there is the option to add other travelers. WHO CAN APPLY FOR AN ESTA VISA WAIVER? Travelers with citizenship from one of the following countries are eligible to seek admission to the United States via ESTA. Please note that additional requirements may be relevant to be eligible for ESTA. An ESTA travel authorization is security screening tool that only entitles you to enter the country via aircraft, sea vessel or vehicle into the United States. The final decision about entry into the United States will be made by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the point of entry. HOW DOES THE APPLICATION PROCESS WORK? To submit an application, please follow the steps below: 1. Online Application: You'll need to fill out an online ESTA application. You will also need to upload an image of your passport photo. All ESTA applications are processed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). 2. Complete Payment: You will need to complete payment as part of submitting your application. 3. Approval Time: While many ESTA approvals come through in a matter of minutes, it's recommended to apply at least 72 hours before your planned travel date. 4. Double-Check Information: Make sure all the data on the application matches your passport and other travel documents to avoid any complications. 5. Print Confirmation: Although not strictly required (ESTA is electronically linked to your passport), it's advisable to print out the ESTA confirmation or save a digital copy. WHAT'S THE EXPERIENCE OF TRAVELING ON AN ESTA? Traveling on an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) can be a relatively smooth experience, particularly because the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows citizens of participating countries to visit the United States without obtaining a traditional visa. However, there are key considerations and steps you should be aware of to ensure a hassle-free journey. Here's what you can typically expect when traveling on an ESTA. AT THE DEPARTURE AIRPORT * Document Check: Airlines will verify your ESTA status before boarding. No separate paper is needed, as the ESTA is electronically linked to your passport. However, it is suggested to have a travel itinerary and proof of accommodation, as you may be asked to provide these details when crossing the U.S. border. * Early Arrival: Always arrive at the airport with enough time to clear any additional security or document checks. IN-FLIGHT * Customs Declaration Form: Depending on the airline and route, you may be given a Customs Declaration Form to fill out before landing. ARRIVAL IN THE UNITED STATES: * Immigration checks: Upon arrival, you'll join the line for Customs and Border Protection (CBP). There may be a separate line for VWP travelers. * Document Verification: A CBP officer will scan your passport and may ask about the purpose of your trip, where you'll be staying, and how long you plan to visit. Answer truthfully and concisely. * Biometric Data: Fingerprints and a photograph will usually be taken as part of the entry process. BAGGAGE CLAIM AND CUSTOMS * Retrieve Luggage: After immigration, proceed to the baggage claim area to collect your checked luggage. * Customs: Before exiting, you'll hand in your Customs Declaration Form and may have your baggage inspected. DURING YOUR STAY * Duration: Remember, ESTA allows you to stay for up to 90 days for tourism, business, or transit. Overstaying can result in future travel complications. * Extensions and Changes: Unlike a visa, an ESTA does not allow for extensions or changes to your travel status. DEPARTURE * Exit Check: While the U.S. generally does not have exit immigration checks, some airports may have procedures for collecting data on departing foreign nationals. * ESTA Expiry: Your ESTA is generally valid for two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. However, each stay must not exceed 90 days. ESTA PROCESSING INFORMATION An approved ESTA Visa Waiver authorization is delivered via email, usually within 1 hour after submitting your application. In the event your application requires additional processing, you will receive an email notification that additional processing will be required. Your application status will chang to 'Pending'. Once approved, you will receive another notification that the status of your application has changed. HOW LONG WILL MY ESTA BE VALID? Your ESTA will be valid for 2 years, or until the date of passport expiry, whichever comes first. We will remind you when your ESTA is due to expire. WHAT CAN I USE MY APPROVED ESTA FOR? Your approved ESTA can be used for business, tourism or transit purposes up to 90 days per visit. × ELIGIBILITY FOR ESTA VISA WAIVER Good for stays of 90 days or less for tourism or business.
