In our ceramics, lighting and furniture, we embrace the perfectly imperfect
variations that subtly reveal the artist’s hand and make each piece truly
one-of-a-kind. We celebrate the tactile and aesthetic pleasures that come from

WHO WE ARE
Husband-and-wife team Dana Brandwein + Daniel Oates traded a fast-paced NYC life
for one of slow-living and sustainability in pastural Litchfield County,
Connecticut. Living and working out of a converted cowshed, their ceramics and
woodworking studios serve as homebase for a design duo that brings sustainable
luxury to everyday home objects.

“Dana’s work celebrates the organic form and the creative process.” -

Everything bearing the DBO HOME name is made by hand with natural materials that
feel as good as they look. Ceramics are created in Dana’s studio, where they
start by being rolled, cut, and hand formed, or poured, trimmed and hand
finished. All pieces are sanded to ensure the perfect touch, then bisque-fired,
glazed, and fired again.

Daniel Oates combines his sculptural point of view with traditional wood working
techniques to create one-of-a-kind heirloom quality furniture. The focus of each
piece is to show off the natural beauty of the wood. While utilitarian, each
piece is a work of art.

Statement Lighting
Our lamps marry the techniques of both studios, beginning in the ceramic studio
with Dana, then finding their way into the woodshop, where Daniel creates the
wood elements and adds the finishing touches. Whether it's a table lamp,
standing lamp, or pendant, each is made to order with attention to detail,
especially for you.
Our Hanni Lamp, featured here, combines cool porcelain and warm wood for a
mid-century inspired classic piece.

The depth in Dana's finishes, such as her sublime indigo gloss, on her elegantly
pared down forms are harmoniously combined with Danny’s hand turned wooden
components and then topped by tactile and earthy lampshades to create the
perfect modern lighting accessory that works in any interior. Their work has an
air of authenticity only born from artisans committed to their crafts."

Meet the Makers
Dana Brandwein + Daniel Oates
Husband-and-wife team Dana + Daniel traded a fast-paced NYC life for one of
slow-living and sustainability in pastural Litchfield County, Connecticut.
Living and working out of a converted cowshed, their ceramics and woodworking
studios serve as homebase for a design duo that brings sustainable luxury to
everyday home objects.
Former record label exec Dana left working with the likes of AC/DC, Metallica,
and Björk to pursue her passion for design - creating DBO HOME and collaborating
with some of the world’s most renowned chefs, designers, and brands.
Acclaimed sculptor Daniel, whose work is in the permanent collection at the
Whitney, left the NYC art scene and representation at 303 Gallery to become a
master craftsman and jack of all trades - from his iconic furniture design to
building handmade full-scale sailboats and baking world-class sourdough bread.
