LOUISIANA LONGSHOT

WITH A LEAK AT THE CIA AND A PRICE ON HER HEAD BY ONE OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST
ARMS DEALERS, CIA ASSASSIN FORTUNE REDDING HAS TO GO OFF GRID, BUT SHE NEVER
EXPECTED TO BE THIS FAR OUT OF HER ELEMENT. POSING AS A FORMER BEAUTY QUEEN
TURNED LIBRARIAN IN A SMALL, BAYOU TOWN SEEMS WORSE THAN DEATH TO FORTUNE, BUT
SHE'S DETERMINED TO FLY BELOW THE RADAR UNTIL HER BOSS FINDS THE LEAK AND PUTS
THE ARMS DEALER OUT OF PLAY.

Unfortunately, she hasn't even unpacked a suitcase before her newly-inherited
dog digs up a human bone in her backyard. Thrust into the middle of a bayou
murder mystery, Fortune teams up with a couple of seemingly-sweet old ladies
whose looks completely belie their hold on the little town. To top things off,
the handsome local deputy is asking her too many questions. If she's not
careful, this investigation may blow her cover and get her killed.

Armed with her considerable skills and a group of old ladies referred to by
locals as The Geritol Mafia, Fortune has no choice but to solve the murder
before it's too late.

RECEPTION

LOUISIANA LONGSHOT is the first book in the prolific twenty-seven book series
MISS FORTUNE by Jana DeLeon, following the character of CIA Assassin Fortune
Redding.

The series has spent a total of 50 weeks on the New York Times, Wall Street
Journal, and USA Today bestseller lists, and has sold over 4 million copies.

TONE

Tonally, we imagine this with the humor of MISS CONGENIALITY, the
intergenerational dynamics of ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING, and the
season-spanning mystery of REACHER.

CHARACTERS

FORTUNE REDDING

A CIA operative thrust into the guise of Sandy-Sue Morrow, a former beauty queen
turned librarian, amidst the quirky setting of Sinful, Louisiana, following a
mission mishap. Fortune embodies resilience, adaptability, and expertise, deftly
maneuvering through the town's eccentricities while safeguarding her true
identity under challenging circumstances. Amid her covert operations, she
wrestles with the contrasting demands of her ultra-feminine cover, navigating a
complex blend of identities and expectations.

Despite her tough exterior, Fortune cares deeply about her friends and allies,
particularly Ida Belle and Gertie. She is willing to put herself at risk to
protect them and ensure justice is served.Fortune has a dry sense of humor and a
quick wit, which adds a light-hearted tone to the series. Her interactions with
the quirky residents of Sinful often lead to humorous situations.

GERTIE HEBERT

A seasoned resident of Sinful, Gertie is an old acquaintance of
Fortune's(Sandy-Sue’s) late great-aunt and an integral member of the Sinful
Ladies Society. Persistent and resourceful, she proves invaluable to Fortune,
adeptly aiding her in upholding her cover and navigating the town's
idiosyncrasies. Gertie is eccentric and outgoing, known for her colorful
personality and adventurous spirit.

IDA BELLE

Ida Belle, is a long time friend of Gertie and a fellow member of the Sinful
Ladies Society and assists Fortune in her mission. Ida is known for her cool
demeanor and strategic thinking. She is often the voice of reason among the trio
of friends.

CARTER LEBLANC

Carter is the town's deputy. He is skeptical of Fortune's alibi and conducts an
investigation when a human bone is discovered in her backyard. Carter is
diligent, suspicious, and authoritative, maintaining law and order in the town.
As the series progresses, he and Fortune develop a romantic tension. Their
relationship evolves throughout the series, with moments of attraction and
camaraderie as they work together to solve mysteries and navigate the quirky
town of Sinful, Louisiana. While their romance is a subplot in the series, it
adds to the overall charm and dynamics of the stories.
