Welcome the New Saints

The new statues have arrived. When you come to church, be prepared to welcome
St. Kateri Tekakwitha, St. Josephine Bakhita, Bl. Stanley Rother, and St. Oscar
Romero to Assumption. This is a project our Pastoral Council has been working on
for over three years: expanding our gallery of saints to include more
contemporary figures and more Non-European saints.

Bishop Mark Bartosic will bless the statues and celebrate the 10:30am Mass on
Sunday, March 6.

Baptism Preparation Session

Our next preparation session for parents (and, if possible, godparents) of
infants to be baptized is Monday March 14 at the Rectory. Sessions are from 7:00
to 8:15pm.  These sessions are for first time parents and for parents who have
never before attended a preparation session. Call the Parish Office to register.
It is not necessary to wait for the baby to be born to attend a preparation
session. Baptisms normally take place on the second and fourth Sundays of the
month at 1:15pm and on the first weekend of the month during Mass. More here

  Annual Catholic Appeal

Financially struggling parishes and schools and many essential ministries in the
Archdiocese of Chicago depend upon the Annual Catholic Appeal. Here is a review
of how your contributions were applied. Please be generous.

  Eucharistic Adoration

There will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on the Third Monday of the
month from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Exposition will next take place on Monday, February
21. Validated parking will be available at MartParc, Orleans and Hubbard.

  Helping Shelter Residents

The Servite Secular Order at Assumption is conducting a toiletries drive to aid
the residents of a men's and a women's shelter in Chicago. Your donations may be
left in the silver box in the front of Church. The drive ends February 20.

Attending Sunday Mass

        Masks Are Required

Reservations are not necessary and there are no capacity restrictions. However,
everyone, vaccinated or unvaccinated, must wear a mask in church. This is a
requirement of the City of Chicago and the Archdiocese.

Cardinal Cupich has extended the dispensation from attending Sunday Mass. So, we
are continuing to offer a video Mass from Assumption each weekend. The Mass will
be posted Saturdays at 4:00pm. Click the quick link to access our broadcast,
which will also be posted on Facebook and YouTube

Daily Reflections

Are you looking for a way to connect with your faith during the week?  Instead
of waiting until next Sunday, take just a couple of minutes a day during the

Scriptures.  A daily dose of truth, goodness, and beauty.  Click on the FORMED

Renew My Church

Assumption has entered the active phase of the Renew My Church process. Parish
representatives will be meeting with the representatives of the other churches
in our Grouping on February 5 and March 5 to chart the future of the Catholic
presence in Downtown Chicago.
