THERE IS HOPE IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE We have the tools today to reverse the damage from climate change. Direct air capture technology is currently in operation in companies like Climeworks that use geothermal power to suck CO2 out of the air and store it beneath the earth. One full scale carbon sucking plant could remove as much CO2 from the atmosphere as 40 million trees. If enough people join the fight the numbers support that 40,000 carbon removal factories powered by sustainable damage could get us to net zero! HALT CLIMATE CHANGE STRATEGY: THE PATH TO NET ZERO The Halt Climate Change Strategy invests in companies that are committed to curbing or mitigating the deleterious effects of climate change. Each company must meet at least one of the goals below. RENEWABLE ENERGY Companies that invest a significant portion of their capital expenditures in new processes and business segments that seek to accelerate the global transition of fossil fuel related energy to renewable energy, with the intention of such activities becoming a significant part of their business. CARBON REDUCTION Companies deriving at least 50% of their revenues or profit from, or devoting at least 50% of their assets to activities focused on advancing the progress of reducing carbon emissions through alternative energy innovation in clean transportation as well as industrial efficiency, technological advancements in electrification, climate-conscious value chains and other similar initiatives. PRINCETON NET-ZERO AMERICA PROJECT The major transformations on the path to net-zero emissions are improvements to physical infrastructure, specified capital mobilizations, proper land use, a structural energy workforce and improvements to air pollution and public health. The Princeton Net-Zero America research quantifies five distinct technological pathways, all using technologies known today, by which the United States could decarbonize its entire economy. With multiple plausible and affordable pathways available, the societal conversation can now turn from “if” to “how” and focus on the choices the nation and its myriad stakeholders wish to make to shape the energy transition. The path to net-zero carbon emissions required by the Princeton Net-Zero America Project requires key changes: 1. End-use energy efficiency and electrification 2. Clean electricity: wind and solar generation, transmission, and firm power 3. Clean fuels: bioenergy, hydrogen, and synthesized fuels 4. Reduced non-CO2 emissions 5. Transportation efficiency and telepresence 6.
