2020-04-18

Young children are amazed with outer space and astronauts. Ken Wilson-Max wrote
a book about a little girl having a major discussion about being an astronaut
with her father. Candlewick Press published Astro Girl in 2019. This book has a
cute story and brightly colored illustrations. The last couple of pages gives
educational information about space travel and astronauts. Young Astrid was
having fun acting out the things an astronaut does while she waited for her
mother to come home.

EGYPTIAN DEATH: MUMMY KITTY

2020-03-23
History Facts, Study Sheets & Homework Help
A century is one hundred years and the civilization of the Egyptian people was
nearly 30 centuries long. The unification of the people of upper and lower Egypt
by King Menes created the first recorded dynasty around the Nile, as he founded
the capital of ancient Egypt at White Walls (later known as Memphis). The
religious ancient Egyptians believed that after their death, they lived a second
eternal life in another world underneath Egypt and that they ought to take with
them the kind of things necessary to them as in their first life.

planning or set-up. Whatever your situation, take the time to read through the
various types of entertainment and see what you can muster.

CORONAVIRUS: GAMES TO AMUSE THE KIDS WHILE QUARANTINED

2020-03-18
Parenting Grade-School Aged Kids
We have had to stay indoors with weather emergencies, but now with the
Coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic knocking at our doors we may have to stay put
inside our homes longer than we want. How do we amuse the kiddos? Yes, we have
electronics, but this isn’t healthy play for a long period of time. What do we
do with a generation that is always in “need” of material objects for
entertainment?

CORONAVIRUS OR COVID-19 FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW: FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS

2020-03-17
Parenting Grade-School Aged Kids
A virus is typically named for its genetic structure because it is shorthand for
the people who work to quickly develop diagnostic tests and subsequent vaccines
to prevent, mitigate—tamp down the spread and transmissibility—of a
disease. This particular virus, COVID-19, was originally named a “severe acute
respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2” (SARS-CoV-2), but while related to the
original SARS, these two RNA viruses are different; and the first name was
thought to cause panic and fear in people, mainly Asians, who were terribly
affected in the SARS outbreak of 2003.

STORMING OF THE LOCUSTS

2020-03-04
Science Facts & Homework Help
You’ve seen the funny little grasshopper. He has big eyes, long feelers called
antennae, and legs that are kind of bent backwards allowing him to jump fairly
long distances; a one-inch grasshopper can leap 20 inches (50.8
centimeters). That would be like you, a five-foot tall person, say, being able
to spring over the length of an entire basketball court! Our leaping wonder
belongs to the orthoptera (awr THAHP tuhr uh) family along with Katydids,
crickets and locust.

INKBLOTS: RORSCHACH AND HIS TEST

2020-02-26
History Facts, Study Sheets & Homework Help
Rorschach Inkblot Think about how many times you’ve taken the opportunity to
look at the clouds in a bright blue sky and how you were delighted in finding
shapes and fanciful figures. When you do this, you are exciting your brain and
activating areas that are responsible for thought perception and the processing
of emotion, especially in the relationship to memory. There is a brain and
personality diagnostic test to do that very thing and it was created a long time
ago by Hermann Rorschach—and it’s aptly named the Rorschach Inkblot test, and
its aim is to observe the power of seeing.

TOOTH FAIRY BOOKS AND ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS

2020-02-25
Fun Activities & Crafts for Grade School
Losing baby teeth is a milestone of growing up, but to make this event fun for
children, the tooth fairy is involved. This fantasy figure visits a sleeping
child and removes the tucked tooth (under a pillow or on the bedside table) and
leaves a reward in its place. I had the opportunity to review fiction storybooks
about tooth fairies. These books are entertaining and provide interesting facts
that can be used in school or home.

WHO WAS PABLO CASALS?

2020-02-19
History Facts, Study Sheets & Homework Help
A sound wave with a high frequency vibrates more rapidly than a sound wave at
low frequency. And typically, a vibrating string produces very little sound
unless the string instrument has a sounding board. Pau (Pablo) Casals could make
a cello weep, dance, and the strains of his music could alter your day. He was
that good! Instrument Notations Towering 6’5″ cellist Amit Peled, is a highly
acclaimed cello performer and aficionado who teaches at the Peabody Institute.

THE GREAT HOUDINI: A MAGICAL LIFE

2020-02-05
History Facts, Study Sheets & Homework Help
Harry Houdini Today, if we met Harry Houdini, we would think he was one scary
man. Not because he would scare the bejeezus out of us with a loud noise or
using some monstrous mask. No, we would be afraid that he had failed or worse,
died. Harry Houdini did death-defying tricks at the end of his career that, even
today, the audience and also practitioners of magic would be hard-pressed to do
or even figure out.
