2020 SOLVANG CENTURY TO BE RESCHEDULED

The Covid19 Pandemic has created a great deal of unexpected stress and
difficulties for everyone, including for the SCOR CCC. Our club has been
discussing what our options are over the last couple of months after the last
minute cancellation of 2020 Solvang Century.  Due to the continuing Lock Down
and prohibition of sporting events with more than 250 people and the threat that
a second Corona-virus wave of infections will be coming back later this year, we
would only attempt to host this event in 2021. It is tentatively set for
Saturday, March 13th.

 

We will keep you informed on any new developments and plans. We are all in this
world wide pandemic together as they say! Our club will send out email blasts as
well as update our web site and our Facebook page when we know more. Hopefully
you are all doing well and of course we hope that life will return to the "old
normal" soon!

ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION



S.C.O.R. stands for "Specialized Coronary Outpatient Rehabilitation" and is a
recreational non-profit cycling club. The SCOR Cardiac Cyclists Club was
established in 1974 to encourage bicycling as a form of rehabilitation after
heart attack, angioplasty, stenting, valve replacement, congestive heart failure
or other forms of heart disease.

 

In 1983 after incurring significant expenses from the Cardiac TransAmerica Relay
Ride from coast-to-coast SCOR CCC hosted its first Solvang Century and was able
to retire that debt. SCOR CCC has weekly rides starting in Cerritos every
Saturday and Wednesday mornings. Their website is SCORCCC.com for information on
rides, club meetings and activities.

 

Since 1984 Randy Ice PT, CCS and his company SCOR Productions under contract
with SCOR CCC has continued to organize and host the annual Solvang Century ride
as fund-raiser for three children's congenital heart disease summer camps for
the last 37 years. SCOR CCC has also funded four Team SCOR's in the annual Race
Across America, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the American Diabetes Association and
the AXA World Team Ride.




CYCLISTS SERVICES



Randy Ice, P.T. C.C.S. has many years of experience working with cyclists of all
abilities from novice to competitive CAT 1 and RAAM racers. He founded SCOR
Cardiac Cyclists Club in 1974 to meet the endurance exercise needs of people
with cardiovascular disease. In the early 1980's, Randy began testing and
training ultramarathon cyclists for RAAM and currently serves as medical
consultant and is the Director of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation at Rancho
Physical Therapy and Clinical Coordinator at Vintage Medical Group, a
bioidentical hormone replacement clinic. He has written extensively on
nutrition, biomechanics and training. Randy is a graduate of USC and is a
certified Cardiopulmonary Specialist. He began his cycling injury and analysis
program in 1984 out of a need in the cycling community and as a personal
interest.

 


PRO BIKE FIT

A bio-mechanically based fitting of the cyclist with his/her bike for the
purpose of preventing or correcting overuse injury, optimizing power output and
or determining optimal frame size.  For those in pain while riding (neck, back,
knee, feet etc.) and in depth evaluation will be performed to determine
anatomical, bio-mechanical and or bicycle-related causes:

 

Recommendations and corrections may include:

 

 * Bike fit modifications to achieve correct ergonomic position or to
   accomhhmodate special orthopedic conditions,
 * Fabrication of cycling shoe orthotics if needed
 * Kneesavers to correct Q Factor issues
 * Shoe and/or cleat buildup for leg length differences
 * How to achieve greater flexibility for tight cycling muscles (hamstring,
   lumbar paraspinals, etc.)
