A contractor was life flighted to Casper following a construction related
incident in Hanna.

Around 4:00pm Wednesday afternoon, a worker was injured in a trench collapse on
School Street in Hanna.

Crews from Grizzly Excavating & Construction have been replacing water lines in
old town Hanna for several weeks. While working on the underground pipes, the
walls of the trench collapsed and crushed the man’s legs.

Unconfirmed reports say the trench walls were not properly supported.

South Central Wyoming EMS and the Hanna Fire Department were on the scene soon
after the incident. The unnamed man was removed from the ditch and placed in the
back of an ambulance while a Classic Air Medical helicopter was dispatched from
Rawlins.

Roughly 20 minutes later, the medical helicopter landed in the empty lot on the
corner of School and 2nd Streets, formerly the home of the Hanna Elementary
School.

Approximately 30 minutes after landing, the injured man was taken from the
ambulance and placed into the helicopter. He appeared conscience and awake and
had large splints on his legs.

After taking off, the Classic Air Medical helicopter flew the man to Banner
Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

Grizzly Excavating is working on the second phase of the Sixth Penny Tax funded
project to replace Hanna’s deteriorating water mains along Front Street, Main
Street, and Mineral Drive.
