Lime Sherbet Floats isn’t really a recipe…there are just two ingredients and
just a couple steps. But, if you are anything like me, having some green recipes
can be important stuff this time of the year, so sharing our yearly tradition —
no matter how easy — is a must.

Having Lime Sherbet Floats for St Patrick Day started years ago from my desire
to always do fun stuff for holidays, but having very little time (or desire)
this one particular year to bake up one of the many green recipes I was seeing
for cupcakes or cookies. On the first year that I we made these, I knew I had
stumbled onto my laziest of all holiday treats. But, hey….I’m always baking and
making stuff, so I seriously doubt skipping the baking on St Patrick’s Day is
going to hurt.

While I do love how easy (and green) these are, want to know the best part? The
kids LOVING them. See, I never think of having things like root beer floats, so
having Lime Sherbet Floats are a real treat in our house and I get a kick out of
seeing them enjoy something so simple and inexpensive.

To make Lime Sherbet Floats, you will need some lime sherbet and lemon-lime
soda. You can use any brand you wish — I went with what was inexpensive. One
important tip: if you are going to make Lime Sherbet Floats for St Patrick’s
Day, try to buy the lime sherbet several days before St Patrick’s Day — last
year I was driving all over town because I waited too long.

Grab a clear glass and fill it with scoops of lime sherbet. If you don’t have
clear glasses, you can use any cup or glass you might have, but having clear is
nice so you can actually see all the green. I used pint sized canning jars for
ours, which I think looks really great.

Pour the lemon-lime soda over the sherbet you just placed in your glass. Be
careful…it will foam up and rise!

If you wish, add straws to your glass. I got these cute striped paper straws at
Target. You’ll probably want spoons too so you can scoop out and eat the
sherbet.

And that’s it! If your kids are like mine, it will be gone almost as quickly as
they are made.

INGREDIENT & SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR LIME SHERBET FLOATS:

 * Lime Sherbet
 * Lemon Lime Soda
 * Ice Cream Scoop
 * Clear glass cups (I used Pint-Sized Canning Jars)
 * Green Straws

Enjoy! And happy St Patrick’s Day to you and your family!

INSTRUCTIONS

 1. In a drinking cup (I recommend a clear glass), add 2-3 scoops of lime
    sherbet (feel free to adjust according to the size of your cup and your
    personal preference). Pour lemon-lime soda slowly over the sherbet in your
