video content analysis feature. Video content analysis (VCA) is the capability
of automatically analyzing video to detect and determine temporal events not
based on a single image, but rather object classification. A system using VCA
can recognize changes in the environment and even identify and compare objects
in the database using size, speed, and sometimes color making it a special
feature. VCA analytics can also be used to detect unusual patterns in an
environment. The system can also be set to detect anomalies in a crowd if
necessary. A facial recognition system is another feature which makes CCTVs
attractive. It is a computer application for automatically identifying or
verifying a person from a digital image or a video frame from a video source.
Thus it can be seen that a combination of CCTV and facial recognition has been
tried as a form of mass surveillance. But it can generate many false positives
and this is where the need for a skilled technician is necessary apart from the
monitoring and maintenance activities.

 

With the increased use of CCTV systems globally, Kerala is adapting to the trend
