   The University of Hawaiʻi has fired Athletics Director Craig Angelos in a
   shake-up that left him, in his words, completely blindsided — that's
   according to a post by Angelos on X. The AD was fired based on performance,
   according to UH.

   Manu Minute: The mysterious 'akē'akē

   ʻAkēʻakē, or band-rumped storm petrels, are the rarest and smallest seabirds
   that breed in Hawaiʻi. Little is known about the ʻakēʻakē, which only come to
   shore under the cover of darkness.

   Project creates new Māori vocabulary for geothermal sciences

   The Waiwhatu Project has created or expanded the definitions of six words in
   te reo Māori — the language of the Indigenous people of Aoteroa — to describe
   different geothermal processes. It's part of a larger effort to center
   Indigenous worldviews in the sciences. HPR's Savannah Harriman-Pote reports.

   With the Central Maui Landfill nearing capacity and no permanent site for
   Lahaina's fire debris, Maui County has reached an agreement to purchase two
