I NEED YOUR HELP WITH THIS PLEASE…

Hey, over the next coming weeks I’d like to do something a little bit different.

I thought it would be fun to ask people what they wanted to learn about.

If you could take just 5 minutes and tell me what is the single biggest
challenge that you’re struggling with in terms of solo travel right now… If you
could take 30 seconds to tell me what that is,

a) it would mean the world to me

and

b) most importantly, I’ll be able to use that information to gear my upcoming
posts toward topics you specifically want to know more about.

Just go here and take 5 minutes to let me know:

Thanks,

WHY RISK MANAGEMENT IS KEY WHEN SOLO TRAVELING

Solo travel is, without a doubt, a risky activity.

I wouldn’t say it’s extremely risky, but it does have its risks.

So when it comes to staying safe while traveling solo, I think it’s very
important to have a “risk management” approach or risk management mindset.

The definition of risk management (according to Wikipedia) is:

“The identification, evaluation, and prioritization of risks, followed by the
coordinated and economical application of resources to minimize, monitor, and
control the probability or impact of unfortunate events, or to maximize the
realization of opportunities.”

I know it’s a complicated definition, so let’s break this down.

Risk is defined as the effect of uncertainty on objectives.

That is, how not knowing what could happen can affect or prevent you from
achieving your goals.

Certainly, your trip has some objective(s), so risk management can help you
achieve them in an optimal way and without many setbacks.

In future posts I will tell you more about why this is critically important to
the success of your solo travels, and how to take the first steps in risk
management.

Let’s stay connected!

IS IT NORMAL TO BE AFRAID OF SOLO TRAVEL? AND WHAT TO DO?

In my last posts, I have given you some recommendations to deal with the fear of
solo travel.

Now, this is a process, and chances are, you will not be able to get rid of all
the fear.

But remember this:

Courage is feeling the fear, but doing it anyway.

Just know that having some fear is normal.

However, as long as you use these tools I’ve given you, you should be able to
deal with that fear, and it should not turn into something that completely
paralyzes you, or that makes you make poor decisions before, but especially
during your journey.

So make sure you deal with your fear.

Soon, I will talk about a very important topic that will help you significantly
reduce the probability of something going wrong on your trip, while making you
feel much calmer.

Do not miss it!

All the best,

3 SIMPLE TECHNIQUES TO OVERCOME THE FEAR OF SOLO TRAVEL

Here are some additional practical things you can do in terms of your mindset to
overcome your fear of solo travel:

• Meditation

Meditation can also help you deal with fear, because it allows you to learn to
be present and not be so overwhelmed by emotions all the time.

• Exercise

Exercise helps a lot with anxiety and to calm the mind, making fear not be as
strong or have such a strong effect on you.

• Make affirmations and visualizations

Imagine yourself enjoying your trip and tell yourself things like “I enjoy
traveling alone”, “Traveling alone is easy and natural for me”.

Your brain will naturally look for ways (solutions) to validate those statements
if you repeat them over and over again.

Focus on positive statements, rather than phrases like “I’m not afraid to travel
alone”.

Your subconscious doesn’t process the “no” part of a sentence like that (i.e.,
you’re telling your subconscious “I’m afraid to travel alone”!), so it’s better
to use affirmative statements.

All of these things can help you be in a good frame of mind when it comes to
solo travel.

In my next post I’ll tell you about a simple adjustment you can make to your
mindset to beat the fear of solo travel.

All the best,

Juan Pablo

THE SECRET TO BEING AT PEACE DURING YOUR NEXT SOLO TRIP

Here I will tell you how you can do to be in almost complete peace before,
during and after your trip.

We are already becoming a little more practical, and being at peace is a very
important issue, because you never know what could happen.

Before you go on a trip, think that it might be the last time you see your
family or friends.

I certainly hope that doesn’t happen, but if something goes wrong on your
journey, it could very well be the last time you see them, and you could be a
long way away from them.

So do everything you can to be at peace, first with yourself, then with your
relationships, and then with your spiritual life.

Before leaving the country (in the case of international travel, but this can
also apply if you travel within your country, although this is especially
relevant for international travel), do not leave any unfinished business at
home, because that will rob you of your peace during your trip.

Therefore, try to finish all the things that you have to solve before starting
the trip, especially if it is a long trip.

I know it’s hard, maybe not even possible in your case, but do your best not to
leave any unfinished business before you go.

It’s very important. Stay tuned to learn some more simple yet effective
techniques for beating the fear of solo travel.

HOW TO SOLO TRAVEL WITHOUT BEING CARRIED AWAY BY FEAR

Here’s another brief but important secret on how to deal with the fear of solo
travel.

It’s about being rational.

When we are afraid, we can be quite irrational, and especially when it comes to
things we don’t know or haven’t done before (such as going on a solo trip, or
visiting a new destination), it can be very difficult to remain rational.

That’s when fear takes hold of us.

If you can stay rational in every decision, in every circumstance of your
journey, and act based on facts and probabilities instead of just emotions, I
think the problem of fear will be greatly alleviated for you.

I still have some more secrets to overcome the fear of solo travel, which I will
tell you soon.

HOW SPIRITUALITY HELPS YOU BEAT FEAR OF SOLO TRAVEL

Here I continue with my recommendations on how to face the fear of solo travel.

Second, and we’re still talking about fundamentals here, I
think spirituality can be really important.

If you are a spiritual person, connecting with that side of you should also help
you deal with fear.

In my case, I am a Christian, and this is not to preach or anything like that,
but if you are also a Christian, you probably know that in the Bible many times
God says “Do not be afraid”.

It’s so empowering, and it’s one of the most repeated phrases in the entire
Bible.

I think it’s an important message, not just for Christians, but for everyone.

It could be a message from God or the universe or whatever you believe in…
whatever the case may be, it’s a really important thing to remember this very
simple phrase: “Don’t be afraid”.

And if you are a Christian, it can help to know your Bible well, especially when
it comes to fear issues, and to focus on your spiritual practices, such as
praying, meditating, going to church, anything that helps you connect with
your spiritual side.

Whatever your religion or belief system, I’m sure you can connect with that side
of you and it will help you deal with fear, before and during your next trip.

Stay tuned for a couple more secrets to beat the fear of solo travel.

HOW PURPOSE CAN HELP YOU BEAT THE FEAR OF SOLO TRAVEL

One of the fundamental things you can do to deal with the fear of solo travel is
to focus on what the purpose of your trip is.

Maybe you are traveling for personal reasons, maybe you are doing it for work or
business. Perhaps you are doing a combination of both. Whatever it is, try to
connect with that purpose before and during your trip.

And in terms of purpose, I think it’s good to have a mission in life.

That’s quite a subject to perhaps examine at another time.

Although, I can briefly tell you that a mission is based on love, and I am not
referring to love in the romantic sense, I am referring to love for what you do
and love for the people who benefit from your work.

The more clarity you have about your mission, your purpose in life, the better
you can deal with the fear of doing something challenging, such as taking a solo
trip.

Why?

Because if you have a strong purpose behind you, this purpose will help you
overcome any fear of doing things that are difficult or that you have never done
before, as you will be willing to go beyond your limits to fulfill that purpose.

So that would be your first step.

With this fundamental idea in mind, in my next emails I will give you some
specific recommendations on how to beat the fear of traveling solo.

WHY SOLO TRAVEL CAN BE SCARY…

When it comes to being safe while solo traveling, one of the most important
things you need to do is deal with your fear.

Solo travel can be really scary, especially if you’ve never done it before.

So, in my next posts we will discuss how to deal with the emotion of fear, so
that you can take the leap of faith and take your first solo trip, or be calmer
on your next trip.

Fear is also an important topic, because the less afraid you are, or really, the
more able you are to deal with your fear, the safer you will be during your
journey.

Some of the things you might fear when solo traveling are:

– missing your flight
– getting lost or stuck somewhere
– losing your things
– running out of money
– suffering an accident
– Being robbed, or worse

All these fears are real and are things that could actually happen.

The issue is how you handle them and prepare yourself in the event that they may
occur.

Not all of these circumstances are equally likely to occur, and each has
different strategies you can use to mitigate risk.

But even and beyond that, you have to deal with the underlying fear of these
things.

I will talk to you about that soon.

Until next time,

Juan Pablo
