SAFE
PROJECT

SAFE (Superbug Awareness for Education), is an international project ongoing
since January 2020, in the field of antimicrobial resistance. SAFE offers
Service-Learning workshops, where we train university students to teach high
school students on the topic (training the trainer), encouraging the vocation
for STEM careers, through workshops and internships, which will also serve to
raise awareness and knowledge of the serious problem of antimicrobial resistance
and the importance of the search for antibiotic-producing microorganisms.

Among other actions, the training of university students is carried out to
transfer knowledge to high school students, so they can implement research
projects on bacterial resistance, and gain scientific communication skills. The
participants involved are: University students, undergraduate students (high
school ), High school and university teachers, researchers.

ANTIBIOTIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN 2021

Besides being involved in regional and international Science Festivals (such as
Science Fair of Barcelona, European Research Night) and the World Antibiotic
Awareness Week for the diffusion of the Antimicrobial Resistance issue, we are
aiming to reach the citizens through non formal workshops and gamification
activities (such as Micro-Combat), as well as to co-create a campaign to
increase the impact of our resources on society.

DO YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE?

If you are willing to solve some of your curiosities on the topic of
Antimicrobial Resistance, antibiotic treatments, know about individual actions
that we can all carry out to prevent the imminent “silent pandemic”, or get in
contact with our researchers, please reach us by filling this short form.

So we can inform you on the next events that we are planning in the city of
Barcelona, so we can prevent, together, the antimicrobial resistance issue!

SAFE MAGAZINE AND OUTREACH RESOURCES

Available in Catalan, English and Spanish.

This educational guide is aimed at high school teachers, and introduces the
antimicrobial resistance issue through several resouces and methods designed by
SAFE to be replicated autonomously by any school, and increase the awareness and
foster the interest among youngsters towards STEM, microbiology research,
scientific communication and outreach, converting the youth into
agents-for-change of our society.

You will find this resource, among all others created by the SAFE team, here.

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT OUR UPCOMING EVENTS? CONTACT US AND WE WILL SEND YOU
AN INVITATION!

SAFE is a project based on the Learning-Service method for preuniversity and
university students. Besides, we participate in several Science fairs across
Barcelona, Naples, Coimbra and Oporto.

If you want to attend to one of our events, and learn more about the
Antimicrobial Resistances and what role can you take to fight the resistance,
contact us through this short form!
