BEFORE-The boob light... UGGH! How awful are these things? I could have chosen anything and it would have been a better choice than this. The ceilings are really high in this room which only made it look even smaller. I decided on an ultra glam theme of black and gold so I needed lighting that was pretty but also put out enough light. New chandeliers were too pricey, so I knew I would just DIY it to get exactly what I wanted. A quick trip to the Habitat Restore and I found a $20 silver gem. I was lucky that it was an additional 20% off! I taped all of the sockets to prevent paint from going inside, took it outside, and spray painted the entire thing matte black by Rustoleum. TRENDING VIDEOS I hand painted the bands with gold metallic acrylic paint and added hanging crystals that I had leftover from another project. They were purchased at Hobby Lobby in the wedding section. I went when they were half off so each package was $5, reg $10 per package. I used hanging strands and also a garland and added the larger crystals to the bottom and top with wire. The pure gold acrylic metallic paint is by Folk art from Hobby Lobby. To hang the crystals I used steel wire from the dollar store. This is the garland of the large hanging crystals, found in the wedding aisle at Hobby Lobby. The long hanging crystals are found in the same aisle, I used both. Since these were on metal clips already I didn't need to add wire to attach them. Painting the metal bands only took one coat of the pure gold acrylic metallic paint. It dries quickly. I removed the clear line that came with the garland. I pre-cut the wire to 2.5 inches for each large crystal and put it thru the existing hole. Putting the wire around the chandelier arm and pinching it closed They have all stayed put, none have fallen off. Now the room is full of light and it catches the crystals to give off a beautiful glow. Now, I don't mind doing laundry as much as I used to since I can actually see what I am doing now. It's funny how making a few changes makes a room so much more inviting. Making laundry tolerable needs all the help it can get lol. Blessings, Eden ENJOYED THE PROJECT? WOW SAVE You can do it!
