our roads and bridges, invest in our communities and create good-paying union
jobs. Speaker Emerita Pelosi joined President Biden, Vice President Harris and

passage of the Affordable Care Act in the House of Representatives. The ACA has
played an essential role in American families’ health, has made health care more
affordable and has given life-saving protections to more than 130 million
Americans living with pre-existing conditions.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Address to Congress

Speaker Emerita Pelosi received a Ukrainian flag from President of Ukraine
Volodymyr Zelenskyy after his historic address to Congress about the illegal
Russian invasion of Ukraine. Speaker Pelosi invited President Zelenskyy to give
an Address to Congress because the Ukrainian people’s heroic efforts to defend
their democracy at home are a fight for democracy everywhere.

The Respect for Marriage Act

Speaker Emerita Pelosi celebrated the signing of the Respect for Marriage Act
into law at the White House. The Respect for Marriage Act enshrined the
foundational right to marry the person that you love into the law of the land
and continues our nation’s work of liberty, equality and dignity for all.

Keeping the Presidio Free and Open for All

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi joined members of the Presidio Trust leadership and
staff to announce that the park is set to receive $200 million from the U.S.
Department of the Interior, secured by Speaker Emerita Pelosi in Democrats’
historic Inflation Reduction Act. The new funding will help meet long-deferred
maintenance needs: bolstering the Presidio’s climate resilience and ensuring the
park remain free and open for all.

Celebrating an Investment in the Golden Gate Bridge

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi celebrates a $400 million investment from the
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for the Golden Gate Bridge to bolster its
resiliency to earthquakes with Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Special Advisor to the
President Mitch Landrieu and local leaders. The Bridge Investment Program from
the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law delivers $12.5 billion to build, repair and
replace key bridges across the country.

Opening Central Subway

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi joins Deputy Administrator Veronica Vanterpool of
the Federal Transit Administration, Mayor London Breed, other political leaders
and community members for the official opening of the Central Subway where they
discussed the importance of unifying communities, creating jobs, environmental
and economic justice. Pelosi helped to secure 53% of the total cost of the
Central Subway, over $1 billion in federal funds, which will provide a direct
transit connection between Chinatown, Downtown and the T-Third line.

Combatting Hunger & Food Insecurity

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi joined San Francisco-Marin Food Bank Vice Chair
Johnathan Walker, Executive Director Tanis Crosby and the rest of the Staff and
Board at the ribbon cutting of their new warehouse expansion, which will allow
the Food Bank to distribute 75 million pounds annually from its two primary
facilities, serving up to 200,000 people per week. Pelosi celebrated the
important work that SFMFB does in distributing food throughout the city and
highlighted the recent $1 million dollars in federal Community Project Funding
she secured for the Food Bank’s new 5,200 square foot walk in cooler.

Investing in Our Nation and Our Future

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi joined Secretary of State Antony Blinken,
Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and local scientists for a tour of the SLAC National
Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford. The tour highlighted world-class U.S.
research in biotech and energy as part of the Department of State’s new Bureau
of Cyberspace and Digital Policy. The Inflation Reduction Act provides $2
billion for National Labs, and the CHIPS and Science Act incentivizes
semiconductor manufacturing, energy research and advanced computing research
initiatives.
