Dr. Ibrahim Abdelfadeel Shaban completed his Ph.D. in the Department of
Industrial and Systems Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in
Hong Kong. He previously served as an assistant professor in the Industrial
Engineering Programme at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Helwan
University. Additionally, he held part-time lecturer positions in the Civil
Engineering Department at Cairo University and the Mechanical Engineering
Department at the French University. Dr. Ibrahim also worked as a postdoctoral
researcher in the Department of Building and Real Estate at The Hong Kong
Polytechnic University. Presently, Dr. Ibrahim is an assistant professor in the
Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UAEU. His research
interests revolve around operations, production, and infrastructure management,
revenue management, logistics, and supply chain management. In the field of
infrastructure management, his focus lies in utilizing big data analytics and
artificial intelligence to ensure the sustainability of water supply
infrastructure. Dr. Ibrahim has contributed significantly to his field and has
published his research in renowned journals such as Automation in Construction,

Dr. Khaled Galal Ahmed is Associate Professor and Coordinator of Architectural
Engineering Master and PhD Programs. Dr. Khaled got his PhD from Welsh School of
Architecture, Cardiff University, UK. He worked as an architect and urban
designer and his research interest is in the fields of sustainable urbanism
especially in Socio-Cultural Impact, Urban Modeling Simulation, Urban
Morphology, and Urban Resilience. He published his research in international
journals, conferences proceedings, and book chapters. Dr. Khaled teaches
undergraduate and graduate courses related to architectural and urban design. He
has supervised several Master theses and PhD Dissertations. Dr. Khaled has
several articles in local and regional media including National Geographic
Arabia. He has been honored for his contributions by the Minister of Happiness
and Wellbeing, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, Al Ain
Municipality, Fujairah Municipality, and Directorate of Planning and Survey in
Sharjah. Dr. Khaled won the UAEU Chancellor’s Innovation Award in Education,
2020-2021. He also won the College of Engineering Excellence Award in Services,
2020-2021. In 2022-2023 he won both the UAE University Excellence Award and the
College of Engineering Excellence Award in Teaching. Dr. Khaled and his team of
UAEU students won Sharjah Sustainability Award, 2022/2023 Cycle.

Prof. Qing Wang received his doctoral degree from the Tongji University for a
work on interface strength of fiber-reinforced composites in 1996. In 1998, he
became full Professor of Material Mechanics at the Shandong University of
Technology, China. In 2000, he joined the National Institute of Advanced
Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan. In 2014 he moved to Shandong
University of Science and Technology, China, as Taishan Distinguished Professor.
In 2017, he acted there as the Dean of the department of Materials Sci Eng. Now
he works at Taishan University as the Director of the Institute of Advanced
Engineering Materials and Structures. Prof. Qing Wang's main area of research is
micro- and nano-fabrication and its application in advanced functional
materials. This involves the development of fabrication methods for the advanced
functional materials at continuum scales during the nano- and micro-fabrication
process

buildings and infrastructures, thereby enhancing resilience and revolutionizing

100 scientific articles, Dr. Zandi has made a profound impact on structural
engineering, including structural assessment and analysis, structural simulation
and modeling, structural health monitoring, structural forensic engineering, and

Structures and Composites Lab at Stanford University and the Principal
Investigator of the research area Digital Twin of Civil Infrastructures. He
serves as the co-convener of the International Federation for Structural

Structures, member of fib TG3.5 – Forensic engineering, and member of the
technical committee at IWSHM – International Workshop on Structural Health

Dr. Saleh is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury.
He received his PhD degree in 1999 from Arizona State University, USA. He is a
fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He is also a
registered professional Civil Engineer in the States of California and Arizona.
Dr Saleh also served as member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB)
Committee on Rigid Pavement Design from 2013 to 2016 and he is a current Member
of the Standing Committee, AKP10 on Pavement Condition and Evaluation and a
member of the Standing Committee on Binders for Flexible Pavement KM20. Dr Saleh
is also a member of several professional societies such as the American Society
for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Chartered Member of Engineering NZ, and
Engineers Australia. Dr Saleh served as an associate editor for the Journal of
the American Society of Civil Engineers, Journal of Materials and he has been an
associate editor for the the International Journal of Pavement Research and
Technology and a member of the editorial board of the international journal of
pavement engineering. Prior moving to Academia, he joined the California
Department of Transportation (Caltrans) as a Transportation Engineer in the
major maintenance division and during his tenure, he was involved in several
major highway projects. Professor Saleh is an expert in the area of pavement
materials characterizations, pavement design and analysis, Road asset
management, and Geometric Design of Highways. He has carried out several funded
research projects of national and international impacts for different
governmental and private organisations, consultants and contractors and he has
been involved in major highway design projects in New Zealand and Australia. Dr.
Saleh has several publications in refereed journals and international conference
proceedings. Professor Saleh research work resulted a patent registered in
several jurisdictions USA (US10883906B2), EU (EP3479095B1) and validated in
Netherlands. France, Germany and other countries.

DR. EHSAN NOROOZINEJAD

Dr. Ehsan Noroozinejad is a Senior Researcher at the Urban Transformations
Research Centre, where he specializes in Smart Resilient Construction and
Infrastructure. With a wealth of experience, Dr. Noroozinejad previously held a
prestigious position at UBC Smart Structures in Canada before joining the UTRC.
As the director of the Resilient Structures Research Group, Dr. Noroozinejad has
spearheaded groundbreaking advancements in the field of structural engineering
alongside an esteemed team of international researchers. His notable
contributions are exemplified by his role as the Founder and Chief Editor of the
International Journal of Earthquake and Impact Engineering. Additionally, he
holds esteemed positions as an Associate Editor for several distinguished
journals and serves as the Engineering Editor for ASCE Natural Hazards Review.
Dr. Noroozinejad's prolific and influential academic career is underscored by
the publication of over 160 high-impact journal papers, 7 books in collaboration
with esteemed publishers, and various patents. He is also a co-founding Editor
of the Data-Centric Engineering Book Series published by De Gruyter. His
research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including smart materials
and structures, resilience-based design, artificial intelligence, modular
construction, and digital twins in construction. Dr. Noroozinejad's exceptional
contributions have been recognized through numerous national and international
awards, notably the prestigious 2022 ASCE Associate Editor Award, which commends

DR. HAMID SAADATMANESH

Hamid Saadatmanesh, Ph.D., P.E. is a Professor of Structural Engineering at the
University of Arizona, and CEO of CarboShield, Inc., a company specialized in
the utilization of advanced carbon fiber composites for infrastructure
applications. Dr. Saadatmanesh’s principal field of expertise is in application
of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials in civil engineering. He
has pioneered many innovative applications of FRPs in construction and has
published over two hundred technical articles on this subject. His papers have
received several “year’s best paper awards” of the American Society of Civil
Engineers. He has also received a National Science Foundation Award for his work
in the area of utilization of FRPs for repair and retrofit of infrastructure. He
is internationally recognized in the field of FRPs and has given many keynote
lectures around the world on the subject of FRPs. Since 1994, his companies have
installed FRP materials in numerous projects including bridges, masonry and
concrete buildings, large diameter pipes, marine front structures, etc.

Dr. Lahiru P. Silva is an accomplished professional based in Calgary, AB, with
extensive expertise in project management, construction management, and
productivity improvement. Since August 2016, he has been a Faculty Member in
SAIT's B.Sc. Program in Construction Project Management, where he teaches
various subjects and collaborates on research with institutions such as the
University of Calgary and the University of British Columbia. As the
Owner-Operator of Customized Project Solutions Inc. since August 2015, Lahiru
has worked with esteemed firms to optimize timelines and budgets for numerous
projects. Notably, he played a pivotal role in the construction productivity
assessment for the $8 billion Keeyask Generating Station Project and in value
engineering for the MacKimmie Tower Project. Previously, as a Productivity
Specialist at Suncor Energy Inc. from March 2014 to August 2015, Lahiru
significantly enhanced construction productivity for the $15 billion Fort Hills
oil sands project. His responsibilities included implementing a construction
monitoring program and managing engineering deliverables. Lahiru holds a
Doctorate in Project Management from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of
Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He is a
Licensed Professional Engineer (APEGA) and a Project Management Professional
(PMP). His leadership roles include serving as VP & AVP Professional Development
at PMI Southern Alberta Chapter (2017-2022), Co-Chair & Committee Member of the
Construction Productivity Committee at COAA of Alberta (2016-2018), and Planning

Arturo Espitia is the lead highway project engineer for the National
Infrastructure Agency - ANI of Colombia. He is a professional civil engineer and
Road Infrastructure Specialist from the UPTC University dedicated to solid
training in road project management with a territorial focus, backed by more
than 9 years of higher education and more than eleven years of experience in
processes related to execution, monitoring and control of civil works, through
the coordination of technical-administrative audits, especially in road
infrastructure and pavements. As a Territorial Management and Planning
Specialist at the Universidad de los Andes, he is currently focused on improving
the methodology for managing road projects through public-private partnerships
adjusted to the public policies of the current Colombian government. His work
has had a great impact on the mobility of the Colombian territory and has
contributed to improving the productivity and quality of life of the most remote
communities in its country.
