Remembering to Forget
Remembering to Forget is a multi-media project to reframe how we look at
dementia so we can live with it successfully.
What are you making?
I am galvanizing a movement for strength-based care for people living with
dementia and to reframe dementia so we can live with it successfully.
How will your project impact the world?
Remembering to Forget challenges the prevailing narrative of loss and despair
surrounding dementia to feature instead the power of music, intuition, and
strength-based care models in enhancing the lives of PLWDs (people living with
dementia).
What progress have you made?
We have obtained R&D funds from various sources including the Warhol Foundation
through Locust Projects, Latino Public Broadcasting, Oolite Arts, and University
at Buffalo. We have participated in Gotham Media Market in NY.
Why are you the right person?
For the last nine years, I have set out to pull myself and my mother away from
the daunting dementia journey faced by millions by shifting the focus of my care
to the abilities that remain rather than struggling against those that are lost.
