General of India Office in Chicago organized an OCI camp at Manav Seva Mandir,
Bensenville, Il on Dec 10 th, 2023. The camp was attended by more than 500
people of Indian descent families. The camp had focused mainly on two issues
faced by the Indian diaspora – OCI Card and Passport issues. Consul General Hon.
Mr. Somnath Ghosh was magnanimous enough to extend all the support from his
office and more than six consulate staff members manned the inquiry and
processing desk to answer and process the paperwork for OCI Cards. The event,
aimed at providing comprehensive assistance to the Indian diaspora and OCI
cardholders, witnessed enthusiastic participation from the community. The
collaborative efforts between the Federation of Indian Associations and the
Consulate General Chicago Office once more highlighted the commitment to

Asian Media USA © Chicago IL: On Dec 03, 2023, Federation of Indian
Associations, Chicago (FIA) organized a Health Fair and Coat and Blanket
donation drive at the Golf Maine Community Center in Niles. This event was
attended by more than hundreds of folks from Chicago land. The event was
supposed to end at twelve noon, yet people continued to walk-in. Excellent
arrangements were made for the guests by providing them early morning breakfast,
tea, and coffee as many of the people came for the testing and the blood work,
fasting. This event was based on the core values of FIA of servicing the
community in which we all live. There were more than 40 volunteers from the FIA
team to ensure everything went with precision. Doctors from different specialty
provided their services free on a Sunday morning, and they all said ‘time well
spent’. The registration desk was taken care of by special multi-lingual
volunteers who ensured all the details were captured, including the HIPAA
release forms. This made the senior citizens who did not know English very

and Ashok Potdar was held at Ashyana Banquets and was once again a full house
event and a melodious celebration of joy and happiness. Beautifully decorated
Ashyana ceilings and jazzy, vibrant colors of the outfits of the audience
brought life to a quiet and dreary fall evening. The lamp lighting ceremony
included the Guests of Honor and sponsors including Anil and Sweety Loomba,
Sunil and Rita Shah, Bhupinder & Anita Beri, Pinky & Dinesh Thakkar, Mayur
Ganger and partner Ashok Potdar. Mrs. Rita Sunil Shah recited Shree Sidhivinay
prayers beautifully during Lamp lighting. Mr. Sunil Shah presented Diwali
Greetings to all. Ms Jairath reminded the audience of the significance of Diwali
such as victory of knowledge over ignorance, which turned into her recent

across the globe. It marks the return of Lord Ram after killing Ravana and
spending fourteen years in exile. The residents of Ayodhya welcomed him by
lighting the entire city with lamps. However, a lesser-known event that also
happened on the day after Diwali was Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhana hill to
protect his devotees. The residents of Vrindavan were conducting a sacrifice to
honor Indra. Indra is the demigod responsible for showering rain and rain
nourishing the vegetation. Lord Krishna approached his father, Nanda and asked
him to offer the sacrifice Govardhana hill because the hill also provided
grasses for the cows to graze, beautiful waterfalls and springs. When Indra
found out that his sacrifice was stopped, he became very angry and sent the most
devastating rainfall to drown the residents of Vrindavan. To curb the pride of

Parliament of the World’s Religions at the McCormick Place Lakeside Center, 2301
S King Dr, Chicago, IL with a representation of 212 world religions and 95
countries. The convention was from Monday to Friday, August 14 to 18, 2023 drew
a lot of religious leaders who discussed social issues that plague the planet.
The convention has its historic roots tied to Chicago where it began in 1893 and
then again reconvened in 1993. The parliament aims at bringing the world’s

Afro-American parade and the second largest parade in America next to the Rose
parade. It is celebrated to honor black history and also inspire the youth to
begin the next school year. Billiken is a guardian angel, a patron saint of
children in Chinese mythology. The parade was initiated by Robert S. Abbott who
is known as the father of black journalism. This year marked the 94th
celebration of this parade. The Bud Billiken Parade is more than a procession of
bands and floats marching down King Drive, it’s a commemoration of our past and

Asian Media USA © Chicago IL: In the heart of Rogers Park, Chicago, The ISKCON
temple, and home of the dear Sri Sri Kisora-Kisori (Radha Krishna) deities, is
celebrating their 50th Anniversary this June 15th-18th, 2023. We welcome
everyone to ISKCON Chicago’s 50th Anniversary of the installation of
Kisora-Kishori, located at 1716 West Lunt Avenue in Rogers Park, Chicago. This
four day event will honor all the members who have served in the ISKCON Chicago
community during the last 50 years. The International Society for Krishna
Consciousness, ISKCON, is a worldwide spiritual society based on the philosophy
of Bhagavad Gita and Sankirtana or musical chanting, and was founded in America
by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1966. The movement has its roots from
a spiritual tradition and the knowledge is accepted as being spoken by Sri
Krishna 5000 years ago. Srila Prabhupada and his youthful disciples soon
established temples in many cities around the world. ISKCON now has over 650
temples and centers, 110 restaurants, and a wide variety of community projects
and still growing. Srila Prabhupada came to the United States on a cargo ship in
1966. He sacrificed the remainder of his time on earth and dedicated his life
