15 CANADA RESEARCH CHAIRS TO BOOST INNOVATION AT UOTTAWA AROUND SCIENCE AND
SOCIETY

The University of Ottawa is furthering research excellence through 15 new and
renewed Canada Research Chairs (CRCs) addressing a broad range of global
challenges.

WHEN CHRONIC PAIN MEETS CHRONIC LONELINESS

According to Statistics Canada, one in five people will experience chronic pain
in their lifetime, representing 7.6 million people in Canada. Yet people living
with chronic pain generally face disbelief and their pain experiences may be
invalidated by those around them, resulting in stigmatization. And research
conducted by Professor Paula Forgeron, of the School of Nursing at the
University of Ottawa, has demonstrated that children and adolescents living with
chronic pain often deal with an added challenge in that these negative social
experiences occur during periods of major social and emotional development.

A NEW INNOVATIVE ONLINE COURSE ON THE CANADIAN LEGISLATIVE PROCESS

Starting this November, it will be possible to explore the complex workings of
law and regulation development in Canada, alongside those who draft them,
through a new innovative online course. "The Legislative and Regulatory Process
in Canada", created by Jurivision and the Civil Law Section, will be offered by
the University of Ottawa Professional Development Institute.
