The email is sent from an [EXTERNAL] email address not used by the SSA but is asking you to access a file to see security requirements. 2. The email is vague, but contains just enough information to create a sense of urgency. 3. The link leads to a non SSA website. STOP. THINK. REPORT. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are some useful questions you can ask yourself when determining if a suspicious email, like the above, should be reported: * Why am I receiving this email in my SSA account's inbox? * Have I interacted with this entity before? Why would they reach out? * Are there possible ulterior motives for this email?
