Excellent4.6 Based on 891 reviews from review us onBrian Halleck3 days agoGreat
customer service and knowledgeable. We love our 2 Ride1Up bikes (700 series ST)
and (Café Cruiser). Been out for a few rides and both bikes ride nice and appear
to be well built. I'm jealous of my wives 700 bike with a color screen. Small
disappointment that the Café Cruiser doesn't have this offering. Cafe Cruiser
has nice fat tires and is a great cruiser ride. I'm on it most days to commute
to work and at slight down hill slope can hit 30+ mph.Gerry Lingner4 days
agoProduct Review Ride1Up 700Background: I have been semi-commuting and
recreational road riding for 10+ yrs, average 30 - 50 km / wk. This is my first
ebike. I plan to use it for commuting and short trips 30 -35 km total.First
Impressions: solid and sturdy. Quite heavy, which I expected. (Weight is why I
hadn't looked into an ebike before; I now have a grade level place to store the
bike and don't need to get it up and down stairs.) Not all that stylish, but I
don't really care about that much. Assembly was pretty easy once I got
everything out of the box. Hardest part was getting the box and assembled bike
up and down 8 steps. Controls are straightforward. Components are good quality.
Ready to go after adjusting the gear indexing and centering the brakes.First
160+ km: rides really well and is really fast! Despite its weight can easily get
going 30 - 40 km / hr with low to moderate pedaling effort on my part (I've been
using level 3 boost most of the time.) This opens up a lot more of my travels to
bike rides. I won't be getting rid of my car any time soon, but I should be
driving a lot less. This is also the first bike I've owned with disc brakes
(Nice!) and front suspension (also nice!)Customizations: added Cygolights front
and rear and replaced the supplied tail light with a turn signal / light.
Replaced the stock rack with an old Topeak Mtx rack and bag (needed extended
mounting bars to get it to fit properly.) Replaced the stock pedals with
removable ones with strapless toe clips (didn't fit the stock pedals.) Not sure
about the seat; I might try an old Selle Anatomica I have instead of the stock
seat. Got the bike on sale, leaving plenty of $ for repair items (inner tubes,
pump, patch kit, tire levers, etc..) Will probably add a water bottle once the
weather warms up.Nice touches: set of allen and open end wrenches supplied for
assembly make good elements of a road repair kit. The beanie hat is also nice.
Ordering process, shipping and delivery all first class.Summary: 5 starts for
now. Only quibble I have is a rattle in the rear, which I believe is from the
fender (I should be able to remedy this.) Happy to join the ranks of ebikers!
Might post an update when I get a few more km on it.James Sang6 days agoI am not
a fitness buff, but I try my best to be active as much as I can, which is why I
take out my bike whenever I am free and ride off into the wilderness. I own a
Trek roadbike which I bought over 10 years ago, and which has served me very
well. I ride it often along the numerous trails in my neighborhood. Most of
these trails are quite hilly and that’s precisely where the problem lies. Over
time, it has become more and more problematic riding over these hilly terrains,
especially the last five miles home. Whichever way I go, the last five miles
back home is about 1350 feet elevation gain. This amounts to a 5% elevation,
even though some sections are up to 20% elevation gain. At 64 years of age, you
understand why this is a problem!Ride1Up LMTD to the rescue!! I have been
shopping around for an e-bike for the last 6 months. I have gone to about every
website that sells bikes, and I have carefully sampled every e-bike on offer. I
even went to my local bike shops, but none of them had what I needed. My
criteria for the e-bike were as follows:1. For my kind of terrain, I needed a
bike with a strong motor and battery (750-watt and above).2. I needed a bike
that felt more like a traditional bike that I could ride manually until I was
tired before firing up the electric power. Remember, I bike for fitness and not
for commuting, so I needed something similar to my race bike.3. I needed a bike
that could not break the bank. A value bike below $2,000.00.4. I needed a light
bike that I could lift and carry easily, so the fat tires were out of the
question.5. Finally, a good-looking bike. Just like my car, looks matter.Except
perhaps for the weight, (53 Lbs), the Ride1Up LMTD fitted the bill exactly. So I
ordered and received it within a week. The unboxing and putting it together was
quite straightforward. I could never understand those people who complain about
packaging and the fact that you have to insert the fork into the wheel!! It’s
really a breeze, especially if you follow the video instructions on the website.
However, I would still recommend taking it to your local bike store if you feel
intimidated.I live in Maryland, and it’s cold this time of the year. So, imagine
my delight when I found a woolen hat inside the box!!! That was very thoughtful
of the folks at Ride1up! In fact, I wore it on both days of the test ride. It
was a bone-chilling 45*F on both days, so thank you very much. And how about the
ride? The torque sensor is a godsend. On those hills that I typically pant at
5-8 miles an hour on my Trek road bike, LMTD ate them all up like breakfast at
17-24 miles an hour!! I literally kept up with the traffic. The power delivery
takes a second or two to kick in, but you resolve that by pressing lightly on
the thumb throttle. I applied the electric power perhaps for a total of 25% of
my ride. The battery started fully charged at 54 volts and ended at 47 volts at
the end of my 31.5-mile ride. It only used up 7 volts. Are there any cons to
report? A big Yes: One thing that I can never understand is why bike
manufacturers focus more on the front suspension. And yet, whenever I ride, my
weight is nearly all concentrated on the seat. So, shouldn’t it follow then that
the seat is where the suspension should be? For those 31 miles, I never felt
that the front suspension helped me. In fact, the saddle is what killed my ride.
The seat post is too stiff, and the saddle is too firm. It does not offer any
comfort at all. The result was that after 31.5 miles, boy, was my butt injured!
My lower back is sore too! I wish the seat post came with some sort of
suspension, or at least made of carbon, which should absorb the bumps on the
road. Thankfully, due to the weather, I am not going to be riding again till
around late March 2024. Hopefully, by then, I would have healed completely.
Other than that, the bike is perfect for me if I can manage to find a more
comfortable hydraulic seat post. This e-bike solved the only major problem that
I had – the hills!Amy Kusek10 days agoMy husband and I purchased the ride1up 700
series bike recently and have used the bikes numerous times already. What a
blast these bikes are!! Already put over 100 miles on these bikes and haven’t
had any issues. Love the adventure these bikes offer us!Hoda Elshoni10 days
agoWe recently purchased the Ride1UP 700 Series (x2 for myself and my spouse)
and couldn't be happier! The assembly was a breeze, thanks to clear
instructions. The quality of materials is excellent, ensuring a sturdy and
reliable ride. The battery life surpasses my expectations, providing
long-lasting power for my journeys. With all these fantastic features, the
competitive price makes it an unbeatable value. Highly recommend for both
beginners and experienced riders!David Choi11 days agobeen riding the revv 1 for
about 2 weeks now every single day. living in Los Angeles the traffic and
parking can be brutal. I've drove maybe 3 times in the 2 weeks since I got my
revv 1. I get stopped all the time and asked about it and I've put close to
400miles on it already. I am having the time of my life and kicking myself for
not getting one sooner.not only that, their customer service rep Brian was so
helpful with everything I was curious about. they even sent me a brand new
headlight unit because one of the LEDs were out. when I called Brian back to see
if I needed to send the faulty one back he said I could keep it!these guys are
amazing but the product speaks for itself. already have a handful of ppl
interesting in getting one so let the e-bike revolution begin!!!Wayward Son15
days agoJust bought Portola models for my wife and I. Great bike so far. Great
extra power for that last “killer” hill to make it over the top! I haven’t
tested the battery to see how far it goes on a charge, but don’t think that will
be an issue.Buckinparadise15 days agoPurchased Cafe Cruiser after days if not
weeks of research for e-bikes. The value was the best I found and apparently
there isn't any compromise on parts/components-they're top notch! Having 8
speeds is a definite plus in my book. Assembly was easy and after making slight
adjustments on front brake & derailleur I was good to go. BTW, customer service
steered me toward YouTube videos for making the adjustments. The Indigo is just
a beautiful ride! Thank you so much Ride1Up for selling a high quality e-bike
for a very reasonable price!Timothy Hawkins16 days agoI have had bad knees since
the age of 11. I had a regular TREK 18 speed mountain bike that I converted to
electric about 10 years ago, but it was so heavy, I had a hard time lifting it
up onto the bike rack of my 5th wheel. I finally decided that I needed to look
for something else. After MUCH research, I came across Ride1Up's Gravel Roadster
v2. What a great find! It is very light, one of the lightest out there, yet it
is super sturdy to handle my 200+ pound weight. At first glance, it doesn't look
like an Ebike, which I believe somewhat discourages bike thieves. It also makes
me more comfortable riding on bike paths that don't "allow" motorized bicycles
(something I don't fully agree with or understand.) The single speed belt drive
and disc brakes make for smooth starting, consistent riding, and effective
braking. With the minimal riding I have been able to do thus far, I couldn't be
happier with my choice. And now that I am officially retired, I'm looking
forward to starting a daily riding routine.

ELECTRIC BIKE FAQ'S

How Long Do EBike Batteries Last?

EBikes come with a range of battery sizes, accessories, and warranty periods,
and the life span of the battery will vary with how often you ride, your
charging habits, and the maintenance you invest in your new bike.

Typically, ebike batteries will last up to about five years if you store your
bike in dry conditions, keep the charging ports clean, and avoid discharging the
bike completely. Consistently allowing your bike battery to fully discharge will
increase the risk of cell degradation and needing to replace the battery for
your eBike much sooner!

How Far Can an Electric Bike Go?

The distance an electric bike covers depend on several factors. The main element
is the size of the bike battery. After battery capacity, external factors impact
the range of an electric bike. Some of these factors include rider weight,
terrain, temperature, use of accessories, type, and pressure of tires, use of
gearing, inclines, and the level of motor assistance/throttle used during your
bike ride,

The range of our top-quality electric bicycles will vary from model to model.
Electric bicycles with larger batteries such as the Cafe Cruiser can provide up
to fifty miles of range, giving you plenty of capacity for a two-way commute or
a weekend bike ride!

Do You Need a License for an Electric Bike?

An electric bike doesn’t usually need a license to ride, and no specific federal
laws cover licensing requirements for eBikes. However, state regulations vary,
so the best advice is to check out your local DMV site and double-check the
licensing requirements in your region before you shop for an electric bike.

Most eBikes do not require insurance, tax, licensing, or registration, but more
powerful eBikes might have varying requirements. It’s also worth considering
where you plan to ride eBikes because local regulations for a bike driven on the
streets can differ.

How Fast Can an EBike Go?

The speed of an eBike depends a lot on the size of the motor on the eBike you
decide to purchase. The components built into an eBike monitor speed and stop
providing electric assistance when you reach a speed threshold, helping you ride
your eBike safely without compromising efficiency. Most ebikes go up to 20 mph
and 28 mph on motor assistance.

The majority of Ride1Up’s Class 3 electric bikes are rated to go 28 mph on pedal
assist.

Are EBikes Good for Losing Weight?

Yes! The motor on an ebike may make bicycling easier but at the end of the day,
you are still staying active and moving your body during your bike ride. Studies
show that riding eBikes can support a healthier lifestyle, improving cardio
conditioning and brain function. While you have a handy motor to help you out of
sticky spots (or steep hills), pedaling an electric bicycle burns around 444
calories an hour–that’s only 20% lower than a conventional bike!

Do Electric Bikes Have Gears?

Yes, eBikes in today’s market offer a variety of multi and single-geared
drivetrains. Most common eBike drivetrains come with seven, eight, or nine gears
but can go higher on more expensive models.

The accessories and gears on our eBikes vary from model to model to provide
riders with options to find the most suitable and comfortable eBikes for their
needs. Be sure to compare electric bike models to find the best option for your
needs.

Can You Ride Electric Bikes in the Rain?

All our electric bikes are engineered with exceptional quality components, offer
unbeatable accessories, and warranty options, and are IP-65-rated
water-resistant. This rating means the electric bike is protected from
low-pressure water from any direction.

While we do not recommend leaving the e-bikes out in the rain or riding in
hazardous conditions due to personal safety, our eBikes can be ridden in the
rain and handle water exposure. Just as with any electrical device, keeping the
bike dry and protected from the elements will increase the lifespan of the bike.

What Is the Best Electric Bike Out Right Now?

Choosing a high-quality bike can make your daily travel quicker, cheaper, and
healthier–but picking the right electric bike is very much a personal choice,
depending on a whole host of factors.

For example, you’ll need to consider your budget, the frame style, size, and
color you want, and whether you’re after an urban bike, a casual electric bike
for occasional trips, or a more powerful bike to tackle tough hills.

Our Core-5 model is an exceptional value e-bike for first-time riders, and the
700 Series is a top-of-the-range model loaded with features for advanced
performance. However, we’d recommend considering what you want to prioritize
rather than suggesting that one specific model is the best option for every
electric bike rider.

Which Cheap Electric Bike Is Best?

All Ride1Up e-bikes offer seriously competitive value, and we’d be reluctant to
suggest that the cheapest electric bikes have the level of functionality,
comfort, and aesthetic appeal we believe are important to your bike riding
experience. Very cheap e-bikes have reduced power, performance, and longevity
and don’t make the cut when it comes to balancing value against quality.

Our advice is to invest in an electric bike designed to withstand the rigors of
the road, with each model developed with precision detail to provide the highest
possible performance without costing a fortune. When you shop for bikes, you
will want to consider price, accessories, warranty policies, customer support,
and service options. Test riding various bikes can also be a valuable step to
compare different bike options and find the one that best fits your needs.

Is There a Speed Limit on an Electric Bike?

Ride1Up specializes in Class 3 electric bikes–these bikes can reach speeds of up
to around twenty-eight MPH and comply with the U.S. federal classification
system. Top speeds vary with bike rider weights, terrain, and whether you’re
using throttle only or pedal assist. You can find more information about maximum
assisted speeds in our product specs and accessories, including advice about
adjusting the settings in your bike display in our support platform.

It remains essential to observe local speed limits because not every state has
adopted the same classification system. There may be different speed limits for
cycle lanes and travel routes that permit electric bikes.

What Are the Three Types of E-Bikes?

Electric bikes are classified as Class 1, 2, or 3 based on the operation of the
motor. As a quick summary of the bike classifications:

Class 1 e-bikes have an upper-speed limit of twenty MPH, with a pedal
assist-only electric motor.
Class 2 models incorporate throttles, where the motor stops assisting the rider
when the bike reaches twenty MPH.
Class 3 electric bikes have a motor, pedal assist, and a maximum speed of
approximately twenty-eight MPH.

However, Ride1Up has incorporated a 20 PMH throttle into most of their class 3
bikes too.

How Far Can You Ride an E-Bike Without Pedaling?

Like all things e-bikes, the range is impacted by variables such as whether
you’re riding uphill or downhill, the bike motor and battery size, tire spec and
condition, and even the strength of the wind!

It’s also worth noting that a bike is designed for pedaling rather than
operating like a moped or electric motorbike, which runs solely on the motor.
You wouldn’t expect to sit stationary on the bike without pedaling at all, but
you can cruise downhill without much pedal power.

You’ll find ranges for each model on our electric bike product page, from twenty
to thirty miles on the Roadster V2 to thirty to fifty miles on the LMT’D,
Prodigy, 700 Series, and Cafe Cruiser.
