INGREDIENTS

 * 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
 * 1 cup whole milk, warmed
 * 1/4 cup granulated sugar
 * 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
 * 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
 * 2 large eggs
 * 1/2 teaspoon salt
 * 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
 * Vegetable oil, for frying

MAPLE GLAZE

 * 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
 * 2 cups powdered sugar




INSTRUCTIONS

 1.  In a small bowl, combine warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle the yeast
     over the milk mixture and let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
 2.  In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and ground nutmeg.
 3.  Add melted butter and beaten eggs to the yeast mixture, stirring until well
     combined.
 4.  Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a
     soft dough forms.
 5.  Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5 minutes,
     or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
 6.  Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it
     rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
 7.  Roll out the risen dough to about 1/2-inch thickness. Using a donut cutter
     or two differently sized biscuit cutters, cut out donuts and donut holes.
 8.  Heat vegetable oil in a large saucepan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry
     the donuts in batches until they turn golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per
     side.
 9.  Remove the donuts from the oil and let them drain on a paper towel-lined
     plate.
 10. In a separate bowl, whisk together pure maple syrup and powdered sugar to
     make the glaze.
 11. Dip each donut into the glaze, ensuring they are fully coated. Place them
     on a wire rack to let the excess glaze drip off.


NOTES



To achieve the ideal lightness of the donuts, avoid over-kneading the dough, as
it can make them dense.For a hint of warmth, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or
a dash of vanilla extract to the glaze.Allow the donuts to cool slightly after
frying before dipping them into the glaze to prevent the glaze from becoming too
runny.Serve the Maple Glazed Donuts fresh and enjoy them with a cup of hot
coffee or a tall glass of milk.
