Our mission is to design and build learning experiences that empower young people to find their passions and use them to bring prosperity and joy to their communities. Since 2008, The Exploratory has been working towards a vision of a world powered by empathetic, brave problem solvers who have the skillsets to recognize needs, collaborate globally, and adapt in a rapidly changing, unpredictable future. The Exploratory seeks to reimagine the systems that perpetuate educational and economic disparities by engaging the stakeholders of communities to empower its youth through opportunities and challenges that pursue equity, and are culturally relevant, personalized, and passion driven. CATALYST INNOVATION AGENCY (CIA) The Catalyst Innovation Agency is where today's youth learn to use their superpowers to make an impact in their world. CIA agents have a passion for creativity, technology, and business. They are entrepreneur minded and despite being misunderstood in traditional schools, rise above and beyond when they are given the opportunity to show who they are as humans. They access their innate empathy and learn to observe, brainstorm, design and deploy innovative solutions to their chosen fields. Learning Hub A maker space with tools and materials to experiment, learn skills, and ignite ideas. 3D printing, Laser Cutting, Screen Printing, Embroidery, Robotics, App Development, Electronics and more. CIA Agents learn to learn through online resources and manuals and develop an innovator's mindset. Real World Applications CIA agents bring their hard earned skills to real world applications. Many bring their products to the consumer market. Examples have included fashion brands, apps, and coaching. CIA agents looking to experience different fields provide services for clients like website development, app development, fashion production and social media marketing. Social Justice Advocacy drives some CIA agents to create products such as social media campaigns and events to drive change. Mentors Each CIA agent works with a mentor with real world work experience to realize their products. Recent mentors have been, scientists, researchers, artists, computer animators, fashion designers, social media marketing, and education. They develop presentation skills, give and take feedback and learn how to pivot when encountering obstacles. OUR SERVICES Since 2008, The Exploratory has been a driving force to bring learner centered learning into our schools. It has provided professional development to educators, workshops to the general public, camps and afterschool classes to families, teachers and trained maker educators to schools and innovation and entrepreneurial consulting to districts and whole schools. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Our professional development service is dedicated to empowering educators with the tools and strategies needed to foster innovative and forward-thinking mindsets in their students. We offer a comprehensive range of workshops, training sessions, and resources designed to inspire educators to cultivate creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in the classroom. By integrating maker-centered tools, student-centered practices, and technology-enabled learning, our programs ensure that teachers are equipped to prepare students for the challenges of the future. WORKSHOPS Our dynamic workshops and classes are designed to inspire and unlock new possibilities in various fields. Our mission is to encourage young people to make an impact in the world by creating new businesses, products, social campaigns, and environmentally responsible solutions. With a focus on hands-on exploration, real world connections, and flexible thinking, our programs foster creativity, innovation, and a sense of responsibility. We have held workshops in the park, libraries, schools, street fairs and partner companies. CONSULTING Our consulting services are tailored to help organizations, schools, and families navigate complex challenges. We provide expert guidance in entrepreneurial learning, project and challenge-based learning, maker-centered learning, and social justice solutions. From one-on-one educator mentoring, maker studio design and implementation, and curriculum development that focus on student-centered learning, creating impact in the real world, and industry-connected learning, our team of experienced consultants work to understand your unique needs and develop customized strategies that meet objectives.
