The Health Collab is a world class Sports Physiotherapy clinic in the heart of
Spring Hill.  Our team has extensive experience working with elite athletes and
on high-performance teams.  We bring that same level of care and service to our
local community. 

 

Established in 2005, our mission is to educate, inform and inspire as many
people as possible to take control of their health and get the most out of their
body.

 

Our therapists understand the frustration that comes from missing your goals and
not being able to do the things you love.  Whether that be completing the Bridge
to Brisbane, gardening pain free, or winning an Olympic medal; it matters.  Our
team of experienced and skilled Sports Physios are here to help.

 

While our team are all Sports Physios, this doesn’t mean that we only treat
sporting stars.  Having these qualifications simply means that you should expect
us to deliver a higher level of attention to detail and care in your assessment
and treatment.  We firmly believe everyone deserves access to experienced and
skilled health professionals – no matter their age, injury, or sporting
ability.  We are proud to work with many Olympic and emerging athletes locally
and internationally.  Spring Hill and residents should get the same excellence
in care from their local physiotherapist.  Everybody and every injury deserve

Our Sports Physios take the time to listen to your story and work with you to
create a plan that gets you back to your physical best.  We pride ourselves on
getting you out of pain quickly and showing you not only how to stay out of
pain, but how to build a robust and resilient body. 

 

The purpose-built clinic was designed with the whole person in mind.  When you
step through the doors it feels more like a retreat than a traditional physio
clinic.  While the roots of physiotherapy may come from hospital-based rehab,
fluorescent lights and ultrasound machines can be left behind. 

 

The rooms at our Spring Hill clinic are spacious and private.  We want to hear
you tell your story. We need to see how you move.  You cannot do that rushing
between clients every 20 mins.  That is why initial appointments are 60 mins. 
Time spent here delivers between short- and long-term outcomes for our clients.

 

While most clinics have small weights and elastic bands, we have an extensive
gym and like to help clients get comfortable in this often-challenging
environment.  Getting strong has a multitude of benefits in injury prevention
and enhancing performance. If you are stuck doing ‘physio exercises or rehab
exercises’ for longer than a few weeks, it is time to see one of our Sports
Physios.

 

People seek the help of our therapists because they cannot do what they love
doing.  We believe that a clear understanding of the diagnosis and prognosis
along with underlying anatomy is important for clients.  We help you get out of
pain and provide exercise advice and a roadmap to recovery.  Understanding your
goals and making sure we develop a plan to get you there is a foundation of our
success.  We use industry leading technology where appropriate to establish
outcome measures and monitor your improvement.  No more guesswork.  If we aren’t

Working successfully with swimmers requires a deep understanding of this unique
and challenging sport.  This understanding comes from clinical experience, time

TOM BARTON


SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Tom recently returned from the Tokyo Olympics where he was the lead Physio for
the Singapore Swim team.

 

He specialises in challenging neck and shoulders issues along with all things
swimming.  Tom has been the Lead Physiotherapist for many of Australia’s most
successful swimming programs.   He has worked with numerous Olympic and
Paralympic Gold medallists both here and internationally.

 

Tom takes a whole-of-body approach to treatment that incorporates thorough
assessment and diagnosis, patient education, hands on techniques, strength &
mobility programs.




JAMES THOMPSON


SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPIST

James provides physiotherapy rehabilitation services to everyone from Olympic
track & field athletes to the ambitious everyday runner. In the clinic he
prioritises finding an accurate diagnosis and ensuring the patient understands
the process required for rehabilitation.

 

James works with numerous elite level running athletes across Queensland
involved in athletics, triathlon and road running. He provides running treadmill
technique assessments in the clinic to assist with return to performance.

 

Alongside running athletes, James also has extensive experience in many other
sports at regional and state level, including: rugby, football, hockey, touch
football and surf lifesaving.




MEGAN HUNTER


SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Megan has worked for several years with semi-professional and amateur sports
teams in leagues such as the QAFL and AON’s Rugby 7’s series. She is currently
the Physiotherapist for the Brisbane North Cougars Netball team in the HART
Sapphire Series.

 

Megan has developed special interests in acute knee and ankle injuries as a
result of her sports work. She has also completed Masters level education in the
area of Sports-related concussion.

 

Megan is in her final year of completing her Masters of Sports and Exercise
Physiotherapy.




PHYSIOTHERAPY

There are no hot packs or ultrasound machines to be found in this practice. Our
physio sessions are built around the individual. With your dedicated 1-hour
initial appointment rest assured that there will be no stone unturned in
uncovering the root cause of your issue. Highly skilled assessment and treatment
is paired with education, easy to understand self-treatment techniques and
prevention strategies.

We currently offer individual 1-hour sessions that often combine assessment and

SWIMMING

Tom is a highly sought-after specialist swimming physiotherapist. He currently
holds the following positions:

 * Lead physiotherapist – Olympic Games Singapore Swim team 2021
 * Lead physiotherapist – Australian High-Performance programs (3) in Brisbane
 * Senior physiotherapist – Queensland Academy of Sport – Swimming
 * QAS Facilitator – Talent ID and Regional development programs

 

Tom leveraged his experience to develop the award-winning Q Swim app in 2019.  Q
Swim is used in over 30 countries by swimmers and coaches as a screening and
educational tool.

 

Tom continues to be strongly involved in the education of young swimmers and
coaches locally, nationally, and internationally.  The Health Collab team
delivers world leading care for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

At The Health Collab we run and we understand runners. Unfortunately, running

We also go beyond our core work of rehabilitating running injuries by providing
systems to reduce injury risk and boost performance. One of our most popular
services is providing running technique assessment using video analysis and
strength screening using industry leading technology. Once you have data on your
running you can make informed decisions on training and injury prevention.

 

If you’re serious about resolving your running-related injury or improving your
performance we can help you. James is a current provider for Athletics Australia
and has worked with  Athletics New Zealand, Queensland Academy of Sport. We are
