DEAD MONEY - A NOVEL

What if you could take your money with you when you die? DEAD MONEY is a dark
satire—a la 1984 with a contemporary, multicultural twist—that explores the
pitfalls of modern capitalism and the dangerous power of myth.



Hong Kong, 2002. Raymond Li, a stock market trader with a gangster debt invents
Afterlife Dollars: a product inspired by an ancient Chinese custom that allows
customers to circumvent the laws of karma and buy their entry into heaven.

 

Although a complete fabrication, the promise resonates in a society steeped in
consumerism—with devastating effects. In Mumbai: a dying Sanjit Sharma discovers
that securing a place in paradise means making a deal with the devil. In
Amsterdam, banker Theo Van Aartsen can see the terrifying moral and economic
