The role of the software asset manager in the company is changing. These changes
depend on the structures of the company. In some companies there are established
SAM managers, in other companies it has to be built up first. It is mostly a
dynamic environment. In defining the role of the SAM manager, the license must
be rethought as a product and a management of the licenses must be developed
from this thinking. In this way, a software license management can be developed
