No, we are test blind. You will not need to submit your ACT or SAT for an
admissions decision.
How can I pay for college?
Your assigned Enrollment Specialist and Student Finance Officer will work with
you to find the right options for financing your education. Some options
include: applying for the Pell and MAP grant through FAFSA, completing an

What is the difference between the MA in Psychology and MS in Counseling?
The MA in Psychology (nonclinical program) will introduce you to the advanced
study of human behavior and prepare you for diverse career options in
counseling, business and education, as well as further graduate study.

The MS in Counseling prepares you to work as a counselor in a variety of
settings, including schools, private practices and mental health clinics.
Completion of the MS in Counseling program fulfills the educational requirements
to be eligible to sit for the National Board for Certified Counselors
examination to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and later, LCPC
licensure exam.

Can I earn my graduate degree while working?
Yes, the College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences offers a number of
different class modalities that can fit the schedule of busy working adults --
depending on the program. Modality options include blended (online courses with
in-person meetings), synchronous online (specific class meeting times on Zoom),

rolling admissions, which means there is no strict deadline to apply, our
classes frequently fill up, so it's best to apply as early as possible.

If you want to enroll part time, you should check out our Culinary Certificate
and our Baking and Pastry Certificate. Hospitality Management students also have
the option to enroll part time, and this is program is also offered 100% online.

sometimes have the flexibility to take some classes online.
Do you help students find internships and jobs?
Yes! Our Career Bridge does a lot of work to help students find internship and
job opportunities. All students in our associate and bachelor’s degree programs

at the company they intern for. Also, Career Bridge not only helps students find
jobs upon graduation, they can also help students find part time jobs in the
culinary and hospitality field while they are in school.

What types of programs does the National College of Education (NCE) offer?
NCE offers three different categories of degree programs at the master’s,

these Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) programs prepare students to begin
their teaching careers and earn their Professional Educator’s License (PEL).
 * Advanced Professional Programs: For licensed teachers looking to earn
graduate-level specializations, endorsements, or certificates to advance in
   their careers as professional educators.
 * Educational Leadership Programs: For candidates looking to assume leadership
roles at their schools, districts or universities. These programs prepare
candidates for roles as teacher leaders, administrators, principals,
   superintendents and more.

In addition to these degree programs, NCE also offers in-demand endorsements,
approvals and certificates educators can use to expand their skills and advance
in their careers.

How long does it take to become a licensed teacher?
Our Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) programs take 1-2 years to complete.
These programs are for students who are not licensed to teach and are looking to
change careers, begin their teaching career, or who already work in an
educational setting and want to become a licensed teacher.
Why should I earn my teaching degree or credential with NCE?

NCE has been preparing exceptional teachers for over 130 years, ever since our
founder, Elizabeth Harrison, pioneered the Kindergarten movement in the 1880s.

With a focus on diversity, community impact, and field- and practice-based
curriculum, the College prepares teachers using hands-on learning and regular
feedback from mentors and coaches.

In addition, more than 75 NCE graduates have gone on to win the prestigious
Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching Award, more than any other institution in
Illinois.

In the past year:

 * NCE has conferred 861 degrees and served 3,486 students
 * 82% of MAT graduates work in Illinois public schools
 * 71% of MAT graduates serve in high-need schools
 * 131 alumni are principals in Chicago Public Schools

Can I take classes online?

Many of NCE’s programs are offered completely online, and some are offered in a
blended format that combines online coursework with on-campus meetings and
in-person field experiences.

Our Advanced Professional programs and Educational Leadership programs,
especially, are designed to fit the schedules of working teachers and education
professionals.

Check your desired program’s page or contact an Enrollment Specialist to learn
about online options and available modalities.
