content creators battling censorship, shadowbanning, and other threats to their
digital freedom.

REAL STORIES

Our community open call gathered real stories and censored images from nine sex
worker contributors of intersecting identities.


BASED ON RESEARCH

The game cites research from Hacking//Hustling, a collective of sex workers,
survivors, and accomplices working at the intersection of tech and social
justice.


BY SEX WORKERS

Our team brings unique insight on digital discrimination by drawing from our
lived experiences in the sex industry and in sex workers’ rights advocacy.


FEATURED IN


CODE UPDATES

Version 3 – June 2023: V3 launches with added accessibility features and a new
ending.

Version 2 – September 2021: Bug fixes. Added sound, settings and save options,
better mobile support, new media, and design changes.

Version 1 – February 2021: Our first playable public release with support from
Kelly Strayhorn Theater’s Freshworks residency.

Code Repo: We plan to eventually open our code for public contributions.


ACCESSIBILITY

OnlyBans is a mostly text-based game with some images and videos. Most images,
audio, and video do not contain information that is essential for game play. In
December 2021, we did an accessibility audit with the Disability and Sexuality
Access Network. Improved access features will be released with the next version
of the game.
