BIOGRAPHY

Brandon Isaacson, M.D., is committed to helping both children and adults with
hearing loss enjoy a better quality of life.

“It’s a privilege to help people who experience problems related to
otolaryngology,” says Dr. Isaacson. “Hearing loss, and its associated
conditions, significantly impact the quality of life for children and their
families,” he says. “Hearing loss makes it hard to function, so it’s great to be
part of helping to restore people’s hearing to a level that allows them to do
their jobs, go to school and experience positive interactions with others.

Dr. Isaacson is an otologist (Ear specialist) at Children’s Health, specializing
in the medical and surgical diagnosis and treatment of patients with diseases
and disorders of the ear. These often-complex conditions can affect hearing and
balance.

He is also one of the few otolaryngologists in Texas who can perform endoscopic
ear surgery. Using this minimally invasive technique, Dr. Issacson is able to
perform ear surgery through the ear canal instead of creating a large incision
behind the ear. “Endoscopic ear surgery is a game-changer for patients,” he
says. “It’s much easier for patients to recover from. They’re usually back at
school, with minimal pain, within a day or two.”

> Dr. Isaacson

Dr. Isaacson is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck
Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center and serves as Co-Director of UT
Southwestern's Comprehensive Skull Base Program.

He earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia and completed an
otolaryngology residency at the University of Michigan. He received advanced
training in otology, neurotology and skull base surgery during his fellowship at
Baylor College of Medicine.

He is board certified in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery and neurotology.
He is a fellow of the American Neurotology Society, the American Academy of
Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. In
2018, he was also inducted as a fellow of the Triological Society.

Dr. Isaacson participates in research to improve the care of patients with
hearing loss. He also helps improve the quality and safety of surgical
treatments, such as endoscopic ear surgery and cochlear implants. He is a
prolific author and has published over 90 scientific articles, contributed to
more than 30 book chapters and delivered numerous international, national, and
regional presentations, lectures and professional courses. He serves as a
reviewer for many academic journals and is a member of the editorial board of
Otology & Neurotology.

He is a member of many professional organizations, including the Texas Medical
Association, North American Skull Base Society, Dallas County Medical Society,
American Neurotology Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head
and Neck Surgery.

In 2015, Dr. Isaacson was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the
American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery for his educational
and service contributions.
