In recent years, competition law has become increasingly important in
regulating market behaviour and ensuring fair competition among businesses.
One of the critical areas that competition laws address is concerted action
among competitors, including price-fixing which can harm consumers, stifle
innovation, and distort market dynamics. In this article, the concept of
price fixing and concerted action, and their implications under the Federal
Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) are discussed, addressing the
legal framework and enforcement mechanisms in place. Authored by our Tiwalola
Osazuwa and Onyinyechi Chima, this article explores: - Different forms of
concerted action (like market division & bid-rigging). - How price fixing
harms consumers and the economy. - When price changes are legitimate (like
responding to competition). - The FCCPA's enforcement powers and penalties
for violations. You will find this useful if you are interested in
competition laws and compliance. Please click the link below to read the full
article and share with your connections. https://lnkd.in/dgn2fdKz

The Digital Markets, Competition & Consumers Bill (DMCCB) has now been
officially passed by Parliament. If you're a consumer-facing business (and
especially if you operate auto-renewing subscriptions), some of the consumer
law developments may necessitate some changes within your business in order
to avoid fines. My colleagues, Robert Turner & Sophie Stoneham, set out some
high level information on what you should be aware of in the brief article
linked below. As ever, just reach out if you'd like to continue the

The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCCA) received
Royal Assent on 24 May 2024. The introduction of this new law marks a
transformative step in regulating digital markets, enhancing competition, and
bolstering consumer protection in the UK.    The DMCCA:    ✍ creates a
framework for regulating large businesses which have a significant market
presence in digital markets;    🔍 expands the Competition and Markets
Authority’s (CMA) investigation and enforcement powers in the field of
competition law; and    🎯 introduces consumer law reforms.      This article
written by Head of Commercial, Chris Mooney and Commercial associate
Elisabetta Bestetti, focuses on consumer law reform which is a particularly
important area to understand, due to the enhanced powers of the CMA, which
include the ability to issue fines of up to 10% of global annual turnover.
