HOW TO REPAIR AND RESET THE WINDOWS TCP/IP STACK ?

The TCP/IP stack Winsock settings in Windows can sometimes get corrupted,
causing various problems with internet connectivity. Such corruption can be
caused by various networking software installations, or virus/malware
infections.

Corrupt Winsock can cause various networking errors, including inability to surf
the internet with "Page cannot be displayed" browser error, even though the
network card appears to be connected. Sometimes the ICS service is terminated as
well.

To reset the Windows Vista/7/8/10 TCP/IP stack:

1. Run Elevated Command Prompt:
- Click the Start button
- Type: cmd in the Start Search text box.
- right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" (alternatively, press
CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to run it as administrator), and allow elevation request
2. Type: netsh winsock reset in the shell and hit Enter
3. Type: netsh int ip reset and hit Enter again.
4. Restart the computer

Alternatively, if you use the TCP Optimizer, just click the "Reset Winsock"
and/or "Reset TCP/IP" in its "File" menu, then reboot.

reset the stack and it's all good, my dell service agreement wanted to charge me
to send somebody round to reset it for me! At least they told me that the tcp/ip
stack needed resetting and I just googled it...

I went to Microsoft and they were no help because they wouldn't tell me what I
needed to do to accomplish the elevate command. I followed your instructions and
I am back running the way I should be. Thank you so much. This problem occurred
because of a malicious program called Scorpion Saver. It has been troubling my
computer for weeks. Hopefully this is the last place it was embedded.

TCPOptimizer program works super!!!
My problem was: Internet connected, but browsers not working.
using: winsock reset and ip reset

It fixed all of my browsers! :)

I tried this command. it didn't work for me :<
still trying to fix the issue on the laptop. running Vista older version of
firefox still connects but NOTHING else. and if I upgrade firefox..well it stops
working too.

This worked for me after other fixes did not. Running Windows 10 Home on an HP
desktop. The crucial command appeared to be the Winsock reset; when I had only
done the "netsh int ip reset" command, it would work for the first reboot, but
not last beyond that. Resetting Winsock has solved the problem (permanently, I
think).

Nice step by step guide.Some of my downloads via my internet browser were capped
at 2 mbit/s but resetting the tcp/ip stack, fixed it :)
