Welcome to Thornhill, investigators.

You have arrived at the hints page for the Prologue Experience to Doomensions:
Pop-Up Mystery Manor game.

Each hint section is designed to help with a specific document in your envelope.
We have broken the sections down into two clues and a solution per document.
Please be aware that there are spoilers ahead, particularly as you progress
further with each hint.

HOW DO I BEGIN?



CLUE 1




After responding to an ad in a newspaper for paranormal investigators, Professor
Steven Musgrove of Thornhill University gets in touch with a test. We recommend
beginning by reading through his letter to you.



CLUE 2



Once you've read through the letter from Professor Steven Musgrove, it's time to
begin your challenge. Hidden amongst the four documents are four challenges to
be solved. Thankfully, Professor Musgrove's assistant has numbered them 1 - 4.
Try starting with the first.

Each solved challenge will give you a combination of two symbols.



1. EXCAVATION REPORT



CLUE 1




Your first challenge is hidden within a peculiar excavation report. On one side,
a description of three findings. On the other, a map.



CLUE 2




To begin your own archaeological excavation, you'll need to identify each of the
three key findings on the map overleaf.

Thankfully, the map is well-labelled with:

 * Rock Type
 * Excavation Depth
 * pH of the Surrounding Soil

Look for these details and see if you can pinpoint each location.

Don't forget the line that is highlighted near the top: Triangulate using
surrounding archaeology.



SOLUTION




The first description references 3.3ph, metamorphic and sedimentary, depth of
2.4m = located near G3.

The second references 0.9 / 3.2m, 9 to 3ph, 0.7 water density = located near F6.
The final is at 12ph, close to surface, igneous = located near C8.

Triangulating between these three locations will isolate two 'findings'. These
are at E6 and F5, and refer to COG Core and TREE Lip.



2. EMF SPECTROGRAM ANALYSIS



CLUE 1




The EMF Spectrogram Analysis records the unusual visual patterns emitted by the
artifact the excavation uncovered. In particular when the materials were folded
over onto themselves.



CLUE 2



Following the conclusion, these strange patterns occurred when the object was
"folded over onto themselves, increasing by half-order at each 0.1 mm at
alternate folded depths".

Try following these instructions: Fold, and view at different angles.



SOLUTION




Fold the EMF spectrogram where an alternate fold occurs at each 0.1 depth - a
peak fold, then a trough fold. Then, holding the folded graph at different
angles to only see one or the other colour, observe how different shapes can be
seen in the blue, and the red.

In the blue, a series of stars can be seen.

In the red, a sun can be seen.

Therefore your to symbols are SUN and STARS.



3. FIELD RESEARCH WAIVER



CLUE 1




Before beginning any new investigation into this potentially dangerous case, the
fellows at Thornhill University would like you to sign a waiver, understandably.
Read through all of the waiver conditions and tick everything you agree with.



CLUE 2



At the bottom of the page, Professor Musgrove gives you the hint that:

 1. Any injuries you receive are not the university's fault
 2. Not to damage anything
 3. Not to steal anything

Using this as a basis, you'll realise that some of the statements are better to
"agree" with, and others should probably be a "disagree".

Once you're happy you've ticked all the required boxes, make sure you review the
disputes form.



SOLUTION




This waiver is worded very confusingly, but the 'correct' boxes to tick are:
agree, disagree, agree, agree, agree disagree, agree.

If you look closely at the top of the columns, agree points to the left and
disagree points to the right. On the reverse, translate these directions onto
the complaints grid. Taking the first letter of each complaint spells:

BIRDPEN



4. NEWSPAPER ARTICLE



CLUE 1




This is an article about the strange bronze artefact, cleanly split into a left
half and a right half. But wait, it's rather sloppily written... Some of the
letters have typos that look like numbers. The word "connect the data" has also
been circled. How peculiar.



CLUE 2



On the reserve, a letter from Graham Fischer gives two phone numbers to try
dialling. I wonder if these are the 'dots' that need to be 'connected'?



SOLUTION



Fischer's letter suggests dialling 18025647931 on the 'left', and 03410573 on
the 'right'. In the article overleaf, find those letters hidden in the text and
connect the dots. Each will reveal a shape:

On the left, an hourglass.

On the right, a book.



THE STAMPS



CLUE 1




Once you've solved all of the four challenges, you'll be left with a series of
'symbols' in pairs. Have you seen any of these symbols anywhere else on these
documents?



SOLUTION




The symbol pairs can all be found in the red stamps around the document. Find
each of the symbol pairs and 'line up' the papers where you find them to
complete the rubber stamp.

In each, a string of six letters to be read clockwise.



THE GRID



CLUE 1




Do not fill out the grid until you've solved all of the other challenges and
have four sets of pairs of symbols. Use the 'Stamps' hint drop-down for
information on what to do with the symbols.



CLUE 2



For each challenge solved, you received a pair of symbols. You will then have
found each of these symbols in the documents and 'completed' it's corresponding
rubber stamp. For example, the symbol pair in the document marked 1. will give
you CRLOAD.

Try filling out these letters (top-down) in the grid under #1. Complete for 2,
3, and 4.



SOLUTION




For each challenge solved, you received a pair of symbols. You will then have
found each of these symbols in the documents and 'completed' the rubber stamp by
lining up the pages. Each completed correct stamp gives five letters. They are:

CRLOAD

OAANNA

NTTSDT

GUICIE

When arranged in the grid, the grid can be read left-to-right to receive the
message: CONGRATULATIONS CANDIDATE.



SOLUTION



SOLUTION




Solve each of the four puzzles marked 1 - 4 to receive a string of two symbols
each.

 1. COG TREE
 2. SUN STARS
 3. BIRD PEN
 4. HOURGLASS BOOK

Then, recreate the 'stamp' matching those pairs of symbols to find a string of 6
letters each:

CRLOAD

OAANNA

NTTSDT

GUICIE

Write these out in the grid and then read the message left to right to see:
CONGRATULATIONS CANDIDATE
