This fun printable shows a gumball machine; however, the uppercase alphabet
letter is hidden behind the gumballs. Students will be detectives and use their
sleuthing skills to figure out what the letter is! They can look at the straight
lines and curved lines to help them identify the letter.
There are three letter choices for the students to choose from. Students will
circle or stamp which letter it is.
This printable is very cute with the gumball machines, but what skills does this
work on?
One thing preschoolers and kindergarteners work on is visual discrimination.
Learning to distinguish similarities and differences between letters visually
helps students when they are learning to read words. If they can’t do this well,
students will have trouble reading fluently, quickly, and accurately. This may
cause the student to re-read the words or sentence that was difficult to
visually discriminate.
The main focus on this activity is learning to identify letters. This is just a
fun way to work on these skills!
