We have all seen the show before, just not at this location. Not only was the show well done, the hospitality was phenomenal!! We had the door held welcoming us, refreshments offered , an inviting holding room, and TONS of laughs! Thank you for an affordable, great evening! Tammy Turner Ward I love it’s old school charm. Did I hear there’s a house ghost too? Love it, so pretty and quaint. Christy Borovoy The Winneshiek Playhouse is truly a local gem. This is amateur theatre at its best!! Jim Manson Winnie is a local treasure that is shared with everyone who has a love of live theatre. Mary Brunsvold Bohnsack Just saw “Escanaba in da Moonlight” and laughed my butt off. Amazing show, and amazing theater. I can’t wait to head back!!! Emily Freiburger The oldest continuous running Community Theater in the country. Roland A. Tolliver Great theatre, love the intimacy of it! Talent cannot be beat, a true treasure. Janet Marie Vrtol PreviousNext OUR HISTORY… Winneshiek Players is an organization of people devoted to the development and enjoyment of the theatre arts, had it’s origins in 1916. On April 28th of that year a production of “Arms and the Man” was given in the Orpheum Theater, on North Chicago Avenue, for the benefit of The Associated Charities of Freeport. The cast included such familiar Freeport names as Scott, Knowlton, Steenrod, Trueblood, Rosenstiel and Reinhold, and they enjoyed the experience so much they decided to continue.
