A San Rafael burglary suspect was arrested Thursday after arriving at a sting
operation with a loaded semiautomatic assault weapon and his 5-year-old son in
the car, police said.

Jaime Luis Cisneros, 23, of Richmond, was arrested on suspicion of child
endangerment and possession of stolen property, said San Rafael police Lt.
Raffaello Pata. Authorities returned the child to his mother.

A passenger in the car, 20-year-old Francisco Calixtro-Leon, a Richmond
resident, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an assault weapon and
possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

The burglary that prompted the sting occurred on Dec. 3 at the Sherwin-Williams
paint store at 444 Du Bois St. in San Rafael. Several items were reported stolen
during the night, including an industrial paint sprayer valued at $7,000.



A store employee later discovered that the paint sprayer was being offered for
sale on the internet. San Rafael police, posing as a buyer, contacted the seller
and arranged a meeting for Thursday.

San Rafael police and members of the Marin County Major Crimes Task Force
contacted the suspects at the Park and Ride lot off Rowland Boulevard in Novato.
Investigators matched the serial number of the paint sprayer in the suspects’
car to the serial number of the stolen merchandise, Pata said.

Police do not suspect the men of involvement in a similar crime on Oct. 12, when
a nocturnal burglar stole about $8,000 worth of equipment from Jackson’s
Hardware at 435 Du Bois St. That case remains under investigation.
