NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE AMERICAN LATINO

Making History Together

BUILDING A NEW MUSEUM

The Smithsonian is building the National Museum of the American Latino to
recognize Latino history and culture in the United States. Learn more about the
American Latino Museum.

LATINO HISTORY IS U.S. HISTORY

The contributions and experiences of Latinos in the United States are an
essential part of our nation's history and culture. The National Museum of the
American Latino will showcase the achievements and contributions of Latinos to
American history.

I didn't know I needed this museum when I walked in, but seeing it, I think what
it does for younger people is it starts to instill that same sense of home. I
belong here. I am a part of this country. Seeing the beauty of everything we are
feels very exciting. I think it's incredible to be able to see your
contributions that your culture has done for this country. The young generations
need to be able to realize that our history that we've been taught in many ways
is incomplete. Latinos have been there all along, and I think this wing captures
it in a really powerful way. The history, the opportunities... People will be
able to go in, and when you leave the museum, you're going to feel the pride.
This is an invitation to take pride in who we are and our history. To really
show the full picture, a new perspective of how much Latinos have brought to
this country. You start to realize that you are a part of the fabric of American
society in every single way. We want people to know all of the accomplishments
that Latinos have given to this country and also the gratitude we have towards
it. I support the American Latino Museum. I support the American Latino Museum.
I'm excited about the future for the Museum of the American Latino. We have an
opportunity here not only to unlock the stories for ourselves, but also to
inform other people of our history, of our shared values, of our shared
Americanness. This is an incredible time that you can make a difference and we
can pay a whole tribute to the American dream. Don't miss the Latino Museum.
