Positioned on the A420 that runs through the village and comprises the main hall, full equipped kitchen, stage, male, female, disabled WCs and ample onsite car parking offering 30 spaces. The kitchen is equipped with cooker, microwave, fridges, kettle, hot water, glasses, crockery & cutlery. A large cupboard in the main Hall stores sufficient tables and chairs to seat 80. The front and side doors offer a level approach to access the Hall and rear access is via a gentle ramp. At the far end of the Hall the large stage area is accessed via small steps as is the kitchen and WCs positioned just inside the main door. It has hosted many very successful regular activities including Brownies, Guides, WI, keep fit groups, craft groups and amateur dramatics. The Hall can also be booked for private parties and corporate events. Events where alcohol is to be sold will require a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) which is available from South Gloucestershire Council: www.southglos.gov.uk/business/licences-and-street-trading/licence-alcohol-and-entertainment/licensing-temporary-event-notices/ It is a registered charity and is run entirely by small team of volunteers, owned by the Parish Council who also financially supports the Hall. HISTORY In about 1900 Mr Constable, who owned Wick Court, had the Club Room built for use of villagers; mainly the men used it and played billiards, table tennis etc. There was also a Glee Club (singing group) When Mr Constable died about the time of the outbreak of the First World War, he left the room to the village. Somehow the legal papers were not followed through and it remained part of the Wick Court Estate. It continued as a community facility until World War II when fund raising events, dances, whist drive and concerts where held. After the war Captain Brown’s widow Mrs Pethybridge sold the Estate and there was the chance for the hall to be bought by the village. The money was put up by Seymour Williams (Solicitors) and was paid back by fund raising events. One of the main sources of income was rental of the Hall for school dinners. The Hall has since been cared for by a committee of local residents who have raised funds to make improvements to the Hall.
