It's just a power cord, plugs directly to an outlet and on the other end it has
the + and - cables that are attached directly on the two screws on the back of
the doorbell (Had to dig online trying to find where goes + and - as there is no
indication on the doorbell itself or on its instructions but it actually works
fine on either screw)
I used it to connect to a Doorbell Pro 2 and worked flawlessly.
It should just have come included with it in the first place for its $250 price
tag.

The weight, size, shape are all different on the Gen 2 plug in Adapter. Also
note that Gen 2 gives off DC power instead of AC. However Ring does say this is
ok for some of their doorbells, check their website for compatibility.
Gen 2 weights much less, and is smaller all around, good upgrade.
Taking away 1 star because the wire is much shorter than Gen 1. If you have a
long run then you cannot use this without splicing in and adding more wire. I
wish Ring left this as long as Gen 1.

This adapter only recharges battery and at a slower rate than the Ring Doorbell
uses power. So the end result is you still have to change the batteries every
couple of days instead of every day or so. I expected when connected to power
this would power the doorbell and battery would only be back up... Not the case.
This is a battery charger not a direct connect of power to unit... Big
difference. Overall I have been a bit disappointed in Ring products. Camera in
Ring Doorbell 3+ great but doorbell has difficulty maintaining connection to
Wi-Fi router. I purchase Ring Chime to extend Wi-fi network and returned it
because it did not not improve signal. If I was not already past the return
window for the Ring Doorbell 3+ I would return it and try another vendor...

I have tried 2 adapter already for my doorbell 2 and it seems that it is not
compatible. I saw one person answered on the question and answer section that it
is working for the doorbell 2 but I can't seem to make it work on my doorbell 2.
I know it on the description saying doorbell 3 but they seem to be alike with
doorbell 2 Ring should really specify what will work and not on this adapter
calling customer support does not know either gave vague answer that it seems
that the doorbell 2 and 3 look the same and should technically work but support
said that they cant be sure about it, really upsetting response its either the
person does not know what she is talking about or their is no info on their
side. I hope any tech person can answer this question.

I just got a low battery notice after 40 days of being hooked up to the Ring
Plug in adapter 2nd generation. I called Ring for technical support only to find
out that they do not support this product since they don't manufacture it. Even
though Amazon owns Ring, Amazon offering buying third part accessories and
labeling it as a Ring device. How do you get technical service for these 3rd
party accessories? So, I'm still faced with charging the battery every 4-5
weeks. Very confusing and disappointed.

not charging.

Overall if someone pressed the button on the Ring Doorbell then it would
instantly chime. The only issue I see is if you have a battery version of the
new Ring Doorbell then the motion sound will occur when someone is right in
front of the door. If you have a wired new Ring Doorbell then you will hear the
motion sounds for a few seconds before the person walks up in front of the wired
Ring Doorbell. I think this delay is due to the battery version of Ring doorbell
and not the Chime Pro.
I got two Chime Pro because of the multi level house I have. I placed one
between the mid and upper floors but the lower floors like the basement did not
hear the chime sound. If I crank up the sound it is very loud and could be heard
from outside the house but I guess not the lower levels.
The first time I try to setup the first Chime Pro, it took me over an hour. It
could only find my 2.4 gHz WiFi network but not the 5 gHz. I finally figured it
out because that network was hidden and the device could not connect to the app.
Once I passed that situation then setting up was a breeze. After I ordered the
second Chime Pro then I was able to set it up in under 5 minutes.
This device is a must need if you cannot connect the device to your home
doorbell or don’t have an existing wired doorbell. Also, you need this if you do
not plan to walk around the house with a smartphone or have elderly parents or
kids without a smartphone or even guests over. I saw many online videos of
people connecting it to Amazon Echo Show or Google Next Hub but the delay for it
to display the camera video seems like waiting for water to boil.

I bought this because I wanted to hardwire my Ring Pro Doorbell 3 to my house
but my home's existing doorbell wire is not working anymore. Rather than play
around with the electrical wiring, it's easier for me to just plug this Ring
adaptor into an electrical outlet in my enclosed front porch.
Overall, installation was super easy and will literally take you only a few
minutes. The ends of the wires already have fork connectors installed so all I
had to do was attach them to the back of the Ring doorbell and tighten the
screws to hold them in place, and then plug the adaptor into an electrical
outlet. Yup, it's that easy. As soon as my doorbell powered on, my Ring app
displayed the status as "Hardwire".
Some things to note: the two wires on this adaptor are red and black but Ring's
support videos says it doesn't matter which wire goes where when connecting them
to the back of the Ring doorbell; as long as they don't touch each other. Also,
for me, I actually had to drill a hole through my door frame so I could thread
the wire through for a cleaner look but this will vary for everyone and you may
not necessarily need to do this.
The power cord is about 10 feet long which is a good length. It should also be
pointed out that although it came packaged in a Ring-branded bag, this adaptor
isn't manufactured by Ring. As the product photo shows, the underside of the
adaptor reads, "Dee Van Enterprises".
It's also important to know that this adaptor is TRICKLE CHARGE meaning it will
very slowly recharge the battery until it's full so if you notice your Ring
battery percentage has dropped throughout the day from regular daily use, don't
panic. This adaptor will slowly and continuously recharge the battery back to
full. Trickle charging can be a pain but it's still better than removing the
doorbell battery every few weeks to USB charge for several hours.
Overall, I'm pleased with this product. Installation was super simple and it
makes life so much easier for me and my Ring doorbell. I just installed it today
so I'll update this review if it doesn't work.
EDIT: (April 7, 2021) I can confirm that this adaptor 100% works with Ring
Doorbell 3 Plus. After connecting this adaptor to my doorbell, I noticed that
the battery % slowly dropped everyday. I was tempted to unplug the adaptor but
after searching Ring's website for help, I found a support article from Ring
that mentions that the Ring Doorbell 3's battery will drop to 90% before the
adaptor recharges the battery and this is done to prolong the battery life. Last
night my Ring doorbell was at 90% and when I woke up this morning and checked
the battery level, it was back to 100%. I'm 100% pleased with this product!!

This is the stupidest thing. We are using the ring camera and we want to be able
to hear it in the house as of now it rings only outside. So when I ordered this
I was happy to know we could be able to hear it inside. This one came with a
cord you attach to the ring camera outside. So you either drill a hole or hope
and pray your door will close with the cord and that it will reach the plug in.
Since we want to take it with us when we go I don’t want to drill any holes. So
this wasn’t the one for us.

Canada, this allowed me to seemly adjust the voltage, and avoid doorbell wiring.
I Highly recommend this product for those intending to adjust voltage or/and
those looking to avoid a doorbell wiring process.

Nice accessory if you don’t have a pretty existing door bell. Drilled a hole in
the wall and hid the cable through the wall to a close plug near bay. Powered up
right away.
