A PRAYER OF LONGING TO STAND IN AWE OF HIM ONCE AGAIN

Awaken my heart to worship You, Lord, in spirit and in truth, in complete wonder
and awe.
“Everyone [after having witnessed the miraculous power and grace of Jesus] was
gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, ‘We have
seen amazing things today!'” ~ Luke 5:26, NLT
Lord, You are good — so good. I am in awe of Your grace, Your holiness. Thank
You for Your tender watchcare. Thank You for using my difficult places to give
me the treasure and richness of who You are, for truly You are my treasure — my
great reward.
I AM IN AWE OF YOUR GRACE, BUT …
But some days I forget that.
Some days I forget the wonder of who You are — those days when trouble washes
over me like a mighty wave and my vision is blurred by salty tears. I forget to
look up. I forget to stand in awe of your glory, to walk in Your truth.

And I forget what a miracle it is to know You and to be loved by You. I’m so
sorry, Lord. Please forgive me for taking You for granted. May I never become so
familiar with You that I no longer stand in awe of who You are — the One True
God, Creator of the Universe, the Beginning and the End.
May I never become so familiar with the Cross that I no longer stand in awe of
its redemption power.
You are more precious than silver, more costly than gold. How incredible it is
to realize I am not alone in my struggles because the Almighty God — my Father —
is with me every moment of every day.
How utterly astounding it is to realize You know my name, You know my thoughts,
You are for me working everything together for my good.
Remind me who I am to You.
Remind me who You are to me!
Stir within me a hunger and thirst for Your Word, for the treasure of Your
abiding presence. Awaken my heart to worship You in spirit and in truth, in
complete wonder and awe.
I WANT TO BECOME AS A CHILD AGAIN, FILLED WITH AWE FOR WHO YOU ARE
I long to know You more, to thrill at the recognition of Your Presence, of Your
love. Renew a right spirit within me, Lord.

Take me back to that moment when I first met You and all things were brand new.
Take me back to that moment when the sweet aroma of Christ filled my nostrils,
overwhelming me with love beyond any imagination.
Turn my eyes on You, Lord, so that the things of earth may grow strangely dim
and I become as a child once again held in her Father’s arms, filled with awe
for who He is.
Thank You, Lord.
