EORI

Who needs an EORI number?

You as an economic operator, i.e. as a person engaged in activities covered by
customs legislation (Art. 5 No. 5 UZK) within the framework of your business
activities, need an EORI number.

Persons are exclusively natural or legal persons (e.g. AG, GmbH) or majorities
with legal capacity (in particular partnerships e.g. GbR, OHG, KG). 

A business activity must exist. This is basically the case for every activity
for which a registration in the commercial register and/or a business
registration is required or which is carried out within the framework of a
liberal profession.

Finally, there must be an activity that falls under customs law. This is the
case, for example, when a customs declaration or summary declaration is lodged
(also as a representative) or goods are presented.



Can I do without the EORI number?

No, if you are an economic operator within the meaning of Art. 5 No. 5 UZK and
are involved in activities that are covered by customs regulations, you must
have your own EORI number.


How do I obtain the EORI number?

The EORI number can be obtained free of charge from the Directorate General of
Customs upon request.

The interested party has the possibility to submit the application by means of
an Internet application or the application form by e-mail, in writing or by fax.
