FINAL BRAINCELL 2: GRANGE MOTOR CIRCUIT

After a big night out in Tokyo, I was due to fly out to Los Angeles to watch and
experience the 2nd Final Braincell drift event.

The Turnout at FBC 2 was less than FBC 1, however I didn't attend as the times
they were hosted meant flying out to America and Ruining my sleep cycle. I got
back home today and only slept 3 hours. A lot of the cars here were shipped out
from Japan, including Shred here in his brand new AE86.

Outside the Niwaka tent were a few cars I had really wanted to see. Goggy was
here in his fantastically modified FD, a car I'd like to write an article on now
that we're all back home. Very clean and very low, I really like this car. Makes
me want to sort out my FC...

Lia was also briefly here with their S14. Red windows are a brave choice but
actually look really good on the purple car. The Besieged tails really improve
the rear end of the S14, I think the only thing wrong with this car is that its
a Kouki not a Zenki. But we cant see that in this picture, so perfect!

Tsudeki was also here, with him and Moon making up part of Team Niwaka, with
their 3rd member Wasu somewhere else. Sadly I didn't get a picture the three
altogether. Tsudeki's R34 was quickly repainted before being shipped here, being
blue initially. Another car that might be due an article.

The competitors lined up along the Meihan Style first corner of Grange. Moon's
R34 is more visible here, the crazy livery and design just about on show. I was
once complained too because all I covered was Skylines and AE86s. I did tell him
I'd do better... This isn't going well...

While technically not an AE86, BWK's team was made up of 3 GT86s. The ZN6 only
team, made up of Krish, Geo and Honja as a guest driver did quite well, coming
overall 3rd place. They had a few issues but with Honja stepping in last minute,
they drove well.

Yikey had shipped his new 180SX over to drive, although was having steering
problems in the comp. Still though, the light blue paint and Veilside bodykit
was catching the Apple Valley sun like it was meant to be here. Just don't look
at his doorsills.

Here's Wasu in his Subaru. Quite a car. With the rear wheel drive conversion
this car really whipped and brought up the rear of the Niwaka team. Cash was
also here in his RX8, which was sitting low on a set of Ferrari 458 stock
wheels. Another combo I didn't expect to work, but really did.

This is the entire line-up. The order from front to back is Tsudeki, Shred,
Tsudeki (again), Moon, Leah, Vtec, Bryce, Combat, Nate, Honja, Krish, Geo,
Vanilla, Yikey, Goggy, Wasu and Cash.

Clip from practice:

: Spirited's team run

Moon's competition winning run:

All in all a good fun competition. Turnout can always be improved by there was
enough for it to be fun. Hopefully next FBC is hosted in Japan, and then
potentially more people may come. Congratulations to Moon - who sent this
picture when him and his car landed back - and to Spirited for winning the group
stages.

ZENKI SUPREMACY: YIKEY'S URAS S14

After collecting the keys I found myself on the first train down to Tsudeki's
garage in Setagaya.

'This isn't an S14!' some of the more keen Nissan enthusiasts may be shouting at
the screen. And you'd be right, Tsudeki had offered to pick me up in his
fresh-from-the-track 180SX, complete with a prominent lack of numberplates and
helmet still in the boot.

He asked me if I was here for the S14, to which he led me and gave me the keys
to pull it out. This is Yikey's latest finished car, his Zenki S14. I'm no
stranger to it - Yikey and I regularly trip out to Daikoku PA together, but I
haven't had the chance to properly appreciate this car as I'm often lagging
behind in my 86.

A car that - to me- does not shy away from being outlandish with the mods, but
the deep tone of red the car is painted in still leaves understated-ness on the
table. He's gone for a URAS theme, with the car being kitted with a Uras Type 2
front bumper with Type S side skirts and rear bumper. Along with that, he's got
some BMW E36 style mirrors and some rather fetching eyelids.

The car, of course, drifts. How does he keep a car so clean and so low a good
handling and capable drift car? I don't know. For those interested, the car has
kept its SR20, running around 350 horsepower, with an extremely responsive turbo
setup.

The power is sent through to the road by a set of polished Minervas, a wheel
that I would consider on the classier side of SSR. But behind these are a set of
Limit Break brake covers, given to him directly by Mr Limit Break himself (a
great brand based in the UK, I suggest you check them out). These also are
chrome, which definitely cover up the dirty and grimy brakes and give the wheels
a wow factor!

Sitting inside the S14 is an experience in itself. Blue is clearly the theme,
with everything from the seats to the fire extinguisher matching. The centre
console has been cared for too with the regular plastic trim swapped out for
carbon fibre. In terms of Head unit, the original has been swapped out for a
Pioneer DPX-4200 and a URAS shift knob to seal the deal.

To back up the powerful sound system, the speakers have been swapped out for
some Pioneer units and you guessed it, in blue. Also in the footwell are a set
of APC Pedal covers which while bulky really complete the footwell. In blue.

If you're more of a watcher than a listener, this S14 caters to you too. The
driver and passenger sun visors have been replaced with visors with built in TV
Screens, able to show any media you want... of course, not while driving...

As my alarm rings, signalling that its home time, I glance over the car,
noticing the taillights. the Tail lights themselves are Behrman, but the centre
garnish is different. Yikey is a bit of a fabricator, and a quick text confirms
that the centre garnish is his own, based off of 180SX sonars he made.

As I park the car back up, I look at the AE86 parked next to it. A car I'd
consider more of my thing, but I cant escape the unavoidable allure that this
Silvia brings. As the 180SX taxi waits outside, I find myself thinking what I
always do after ever s-chassis drive.

God I want a Silvia.

AFTER PARTY OF CORSA'S 7/7 DAY MEET

I didn't go to the Corsa meet since I was busy, so later that day I headed down
to the YNS garage in Koto City

I'd like to begin by apologising for my obvious lack of Rotary knowledge, they
are something that I'd like to learn more about as my first ever car in the RCC
was an FC. Also, I' not great with the kits that come on RX7s, so I'll do my
best to comment on these cars

First car I was greeted with was this pink FD, complete with Abflug wheels and a
crazy Abflug kit. Fixed headlights are a look I'm keen on for RX7s, and this car
perfectly personifies that. Pink is not the most common  colour, but this rocks
the paint so well. Its owned by fotku, who hosted the event at the garage too.

Just behind that was the complete other end of the spectrum. This 60s Mazda
Cosmo Convertible was sporting a few light body mods, period correct stickers
and some incredible rally lights. If I had to pick favourites, I think this
would win it for me. A proper weekender, since it is sunday after all.

The Speed Master indeed. This FD again has the ideal combo. Crazy bodykit (in
this case a SCOOT kit with wheelspats), fixed lights and a crazy colour. This
car is the SCOOT 327FD, which got its name from a 327km/h run in New Zealand
that this car performed, way back in 2001. No doubt, a piece of RX7 history
parked on the kerb tonight.

This black FD was almost understated. The black Mazdaspeed wheels were not as
popular as I expected tonight, so they looked extra cool on this car. Most of
the car being dark coloured really made the red harnesses and polished lips on
the wheels stand out, giving this car a really clean look.

As I turned around, I thought my eyes were deceiving me. A Porsche? But no, this
RX7 is running the Re Amemiya front end, complete with the headlights from a
Porsche! So, to the owner of this, don't worry about cracking one of them, just
find your local 997 911 and borrow their headlights...

If I had 100 yen for every pink car at the event, I'd have 200 yen, nowhere near
enough to cover the premix used today, but weird that there were two. This car
has the 993 Headlight front end, similar to the car above but older, and the
same rear end as the AC987. Lambo doors, speedster roof and a red interior.
Could this car get any crazier?

Another SCOOT kitted car, this time with a different front bumper and a low key
cream colour, but I dig it. The car is owned by a CREST member, meaning the
owner has likely travelled from Singapore to be here. One of the more
understated RX7s of the day, but still nonetheless a brilliantly built car.

A Different car here today. This FC was low, hugely modified and has R32 GTR
Tail lights retrofitted. I want to say a drift car, but I am not sure since I
didn't see it leave or arrive. The bonnet decals were incredible, and sadly the
image doesn't do them justice.

The Real Governor. Ninjashooter and his Re-Amemiya JGTC car arrived later into
the evening, but this car had real presence. The white centrelock regamasters
really work on this build.  After the garage, we were due to head down to
Tsukuba Circuit, so I wouldn't have been suprised if this dominated on track.

I'd really like to try getting into RX7s more, especially FDs and their crazy
kits. Thank you for Project Tsukuba for hosting this little after party, as we
know the after party is always better...

If you'd like to join Project Tsukuba the server is still unfinished, but mr
meenay needs a reason to finish it, so here's the invite:

POPUP COMP: SPIRITED SWEEP AND AE86 CRASH!

As it turns out I can't drive.

Today a Mini Competition was held at Ebisu Minami so with very little
preparation and with my R32 being out of action, I had to choose to drive my
AE86 and entered as a driver.

Firstly, I'll run you guys through some of the competition I had:
Bryce's AE86 is no slouch, he's been driving it for years and is certainly
someone to worry about. He is another member of SPIRITED, so as much as I'd want
to CRUSH him, he's a teammate and so I wished him luck.

Next up was Valid, who for once was not driving one of his many AE86s. This S15
was set up well though, as Valid made it all the way to 4th place. Running about
315ish horsepower, it was definitely on the higher end of the power today.

Lolcraft's AE86 has been featured a few times on this page, and he was down
again to drive at this comp! I haven't seen him drive for a while, and I had
missed seeing that parcel shelf of stickers in the back.

In terms of friends of the page, todays event was full! Shred was here with his
2JZ Sunny, definitely a cool and probably quite a rare drift car. The pink is
quite the statement and he drove well, sadly having to leave early and get back
to his shop.

One of the other SPIRITED cars was Awoo's street AE86, which did REALLY well for
what it is. This car is fairly low powered and yet Awoo made it to 2nd place! A
formidable driver and a pretty cool car, even if it is a Panda Trueno.

Kitami's ER34 was freshly built and ready for the competition, but sadly wasn't
tuned exactly right and he didn't do too well. The car looks cool with the paint
and certainly has potential, so lets hope to see this car up and running well
for the next event!

Last but certainly not least, Combat's properly set up competition AE86. The
livery, the engine, the wheels all make this car look ready to win the
competition, and win Combat did. Congratulatons Combat!

The competition started, and then...

On the first run I FLIPPED my AE86. No worries though. I had an idea.

I ended up pushing the roof out and welding in a cage as quick as I could. I'm
glad I did and the car still worked because I got 3rd in the competition! AE86
never fails!

And the comp was finished! Combat won, Awoo came second and I came third. DoriX
competitions really are fun, so if you think you have what it takes to compete
with us, join!

Car

I think its time I do something with this missile ae86, DM me with ideas please!
just a short article today, as the event was fairly small. Thanks to FORE CAST
Team Leader Desu for organising the event and lonely_driver for helping judge!

DEKOTORA TRUCK: I VISIT KYOTO TO LOOK AT A HINO

Dekotora: The art of truck customisation Japanese style

This is owned by Wasu, an old friend of mine. You may remember his JZX81 I wrote
an article about back in the day. This Hino Ranger from 1990 is almost
completely different to that JZX. This is a Dekotora Truck, with Dekotora being
an abbreviation for decoration truck.

The original Ranger has been completely changed, with new front and rear
bumpers, side protection, cab design, interior, underbody, upfit, lights, paint
job and of course a whole lot of Chrome. That's Hatsune Miku on the rear doors,
which open to find a large storage bay inside the box of the truck. It has
enough space just to fit a car!

Wasu told me however that a lot of Dekotora drivers use these manic machines as
personal vehicles, which explains why his is filled with spares from his RX7.
Quite the vehicle to drive for fun.

He's even got 'bus rockets' on the roof! I have to admit, I think these were for
style and they do really give the roof that Classical Dekotora look, while also
making it look like a Kanko Bus.

The interior of this truck is even more stylish and ostentatious than the
outside, with the red quilted upholstery mixed with the gold from the pattern
and the chandelier, something I never thought I'd be writing in an article.

Not only does it have a chandelier fit for a country house inside, it also has a
flat floor possibly with sleeping capabilities, a couple of TV screens, a radio,
a massive switch panel and the coolest gear knob ever mated atop of a manual
gearbox!

He's even got a banging stereo system, complete with Gentleman's Literature to
read while stopped.

Its safe to say this truck is the coolest, most creative and interesting vehicle
I think I've ever written on. Nobody else I have ever met in the RCC has owned a
Dekotora truck, and the icing on the cake for this is he's only gone and blender
built the entire thing. The only OBJ part on this truck are the tyres. This is
by far my number one vehicle in the entire RCC at this moment. Everything lights
up, everything is AO Baked and everything is insane.

thanks to wasu for showing up with this insane machine, glad to be back writing
again.
map by Sunday Driver, not sure if i can invite you guys to it..

My schedule now is getting busy with school, but I'm waiting on Translunary to
finish his AE86 and then I can write up a little Team Article on ShakeDown!

thanks guys see ya

AE86 DAY 2023 - THE SPIRITED TAKEOVER

I'm back in my element for this article. AE86 BABY!!!

Yesterday I met with my friend, spoke for 5 minutes, handed over some cash and
ended up with this. Before we get too far along I'll have to admit it is
actually an 85, but never mind that, it has a genuine Hachi-Roku engine and all
sorts of parts on it!

if you get the reference you are a real ae86 fanboy

First out of us spirited lot was Vtec's left hand drive AE86. Imported just for
this even from Canada, his S2000 engine was really roaring out on the track.
Also, just look at the livery. I'd consider some of the spirited liveries to be
some of the best in the RCC, even if I am biased.

Second was 6try's ROTARY powered Levin... really stretching todays regulations.
However close to the 'AE86' limit it is with it being Mazda powered, it still is
one and so was welcome today. I wish I had recorded the idle of it because it
really was the brap brap that rotaries make.

The next two cars are Mine (Left) and Translunary's (Right). We're matching with
our 4 Lug VSKFs and paintjob. We've even got very similar kits, but sadly the
wing is where we differ. I only brought this car for show on the Spirited Tow
Truck, but I'm glad it could be there for the static display.

The second to last official Spirited car at the beginning was Awoo's Trueno
Hatch, a personal spirited favourite of mine. The SSR Meshes complement the
custom panels very nicely, and I wonder who stuck his Running Free banner on
there...

Last but not least was our leader, Combat's Trueno Coupe Street car. The best
part is all of his rear window stickers are individually UV mapped and uploaded
in order to get the best quality. He's even got the rare Origin Labo clear tail
lights on this. Totally cool.

Lolcraft's Gymkhana car was here, but I couldn't find the man himself to ask
what has changed. Still not running his Super Raps though!

Next up was Hirasawa' s Levin, complete with a RunFree livery and the correct D1
Sponsors. This car is seriously nice and won best AE86 of the day!

Desu was here with his latest AE86 alteration, with his R32 style wing on the
back and giant Sun Racing sticker on the bonnet. He's so happy with it he's
waving in the picture :)

This was a proper curveball at the track. This may not be an AE86, but has the
4AGE Heart lifted straight into it. For those who don't know, this Daihatsu
Charmant competed in D1GP and is now owned by my friend Fujinoki. Funnily enough
this car deservedly won best 'car' of the day, so congrats to Fuji!

Tran's seconds car was this Magic Levin. This car has been in the works by him
for a while, with almost every sticker on it completely made by him. He's
started a recent trend of R32 wings on Coupes, with him and Ry both having Magic
AE86s. Certainly a good look, even if he was missing the dashboard for today.

Next, we all got taken out to do a Parade Run around Tsukuba Circuit, the venue
for the DoriX AE86 Day Festival. It took us quite a while to get into line, but
eventually we were able to drive around, with a few hiccups around the lap
itself.

Happy AE86 day to those who missed it!
