Current information on border crossings, measures at the border upon entry into Slovenia and the lists of countries can be found on the special page Border Crossing. * News * Statements * Topics * Slovenia in Geneva * About the Permanent Mission * SLOVENIA TO PROVIDE SUBSTANTIAL HUMANITARIAN FOOD AID TO THE MOST AFFECTED DEVELOPING COUNTRIES 25. 11. 2022 In the wake of the global food crisis, which has deepened since the start of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has proposed that Slovenia join Ukrainian President Zelenskiy's 'Grain from Ukraine' initiative, in which Ukraine donates grain while donor countries, including Slovenia, finance shipping to the least developed countries in Africa and Asia, where people are at risk of starvation. * MINISTER FAJON AT THE ARAB LEAGUE FOREIGN MINISTERS MEETING ON THE IMPORTANCE OF MULTILATERAL COOPERATION 6. 9. 2022 Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon took part in the Arab League foreign ministers meeting in Cairo. In her opening address, she underlined the importance of cooperation and dialogue when facing key global challenges and went on to present to the ministers her vision for Slovenia's candidature for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council for the 2024–2025 term. She also held a number of bilateral meetings on the margins of the event. * WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY: COLLECTIVE ENDEAVOURS TO DELIVER EFFECTIVE ASSISTANCE 19. 8. 2022 “It takes a village to raise a child. Similarly, it takes a village to support a person in a humanitarian crisis.” is the slogan of this year’s World Humanitarian Day, which is being observed today. Given the scale of humanitarian crises around the world, World Humanitarian Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of collective efforts to help people affected by humanitarian crises. NEWS RSS * 7. 10. 2022 SLOVENIA IN THE UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL ADDRESSES THE RIGHTS OF OLDER PERSONS, HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT AND HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION The Geneva-based United Nations Human Rights Council concludes its 51st regular session today. Between 12 September and 7 October 2022, the central body of the UN in the field of human rights addressed the most pressing human rights situations around the world and adopted a number of thematic resolutions. At the meeting, Slovenia presented two initiatives in cooperation with partner countries, an initiative on the human rights of older persons and a resolution on human rights education. Slovenian expert Dr Sancin was elected to the Advisory Committee of the Council. * 1. 10. 2022 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS 2022 DEDICATED TO RESILIENCE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF OLDER WOMEN This year’s International Day of Older Persons, celebrated on 1 October, is dedicated to the resilience and contributions of older women. The discrimination and inequalities that women face can increase with age. For this reason, the contributions and experiences of older women, who play an important role in social, political, economic and cultural life, often remain disregarded. * 13. 9. 2022 SLOVENIA JOINED THE COPENHAGEN PLEDGE ON TECH FOR DEMOCRACY Slovenia joined the Copenhagen Pledge on Tech for Democracy that lays out a framework and envisions a shared digital future based on democratic values and human rights.
