Excellent question!

With Biome, we recommend taking with food to avoid any possible stomach upset.
Everyone is different! You don't have to take with food unless you experience
nausea while taking supplements on an empty stomach.

If you choose to take with a meal, we recommend nothing too heavy, just
something light. This will help preserve the most amount of live cultures.

Q: Why is there a Prop 65 warning on the bottle?

A: Hi Jamie,

I'm sorry for the confusion and concern with this.

Rest assured though, there is nothing to be worried about with the safety of our
supplements.

California's Prop 65 is extremely strict and requires businesses that sell
consumable products in the state to list a warning if the product contains even
trace amounts of lead or any other substance on their list of over 900
chemicals.

To give context, Prop 65 requires a warning on the label of any product that
would result in a consumer ingesting more than 0.5 mcg of lead in a day. This is
1000x lower than the highest level of lead known by California NOT to cause
reproductive harm. Essentially, 1000x this amount has been shown to have no
observable effect on humans or animals.

As you can see, this is a very strict regulation and many foods and even water
contain more lead than 0.5 micrograms.

All of our products test well below the safe amount for lead. For example, Pulse
tested for lead at 0.02ppm, which is lower than what is naturally found in many
foods. (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7118801)

There is a good article on this that explains Prop 65 in more detail. I will
provide a few quotes from the article and link it below:

"Prop 65 warnings are seen throughout California in restaurants, grocery stores,
hotels, schools, hospitals, and on a wide variety of consumer products including
dietary supplements and herbal supplements.

Practically all foods contain certain levels of one or more of the substances
listed by the State of California. In many cases, the exposure levels
established by Prop 65 are less than what occurs naturally in fruits,
vegetables, grains, and even drinking water."

"Prop 65 has inadvertently affected dietary supplements and herbal ingredients
which naturally contain very low levels of certain elements commonly found in
soil, plants, and water – a common example is lead.

The Prop 65 limit of 0.5 mcg / day for lead is far below the amount of lead
naturally found in many fruits, vegetables and herbs grown on clean,
non-contaminated soils."

Q: Can the Biome capsule be pulled apart so the contents can be mixed with
liquid and administered via a feeding tube?

Yeah. Strange question. I am recovering from tongue cancer. The radiation did a
number on my mouth, throat, and the entrance to my esophagus. Can’t take pills
or capsules by mouth. Not yet. Thank you.
