 * * Original Article Restricted Calories and Eating Times in Weight Loss D. Liu
     and Others

This trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of time-restricted eating as
compared with daily calorie restriction for weight loss at 1 year among
patients with obesity. Time-restricted eating did not produce additional
benefits with regard to the reduction from baseline in body weight, body
fat, and metabolic risk factors as compared with daily calorie restriction.

     Levin and Others

This randomized, controlled trial evaluated AZD7442 (a combination of
tixagevimab and cilgavimab, monoclonal antibodies targeting the SARS-CoV-2
spike protein) for the prevention of Covid-19 in adults at high risk for
SARS-CoV-2 infection. AZD7442 was found to have approximately 77% efficacy
     in preventing symptomatic infection.

 * * Medicine and Society The Quality Movement — Part 2 Metric Myopia L.
     Rosenbaum

Proliferating measures of health care quality may distract clinicians from
what matters to individual patients and from larger public health problems.
Has the quality-improvement movement gone astray by ignoring the complexity
of both high-quality care and physicians’ motivations?

     Apr 20
   * Perspective Physicians as Political Pawns A. Kirkland

State efforts to prohibit gender-affirming care place physicians’ duties to
avoid discrimination, protect privacy, meet standards of care, fulfill
reporting requirements, and avoid committing crimes in direct conflict with
     one another.

     Apr 20
   * Perspective Addressing Threats to the Nursing Workforce D.K. Costa and C.R.
     Friese

U.S. nurses reported pervasive unsafe working conditions before the
pandemic and have cited a range of stressors and traumatic experiences
during it. Pressures on the nursing workforce may only worsen as Covid-19
     subsides.

 * * Correspondence Current Causes of Death in U.S. Children and Adolescents
     J.E. Goldstick, R.M. Cunningham, and P.M. Carter

Firearm-related injury is now the leading cause of death among children and
teens. We continue to fail to protect our youth from a preventable cause of
     death.

     Apr 20
   * Perspective Crossing Lines L.K. Lee, K. Douglas, and D. Hemenway

For more than 60 years, motor vehicle crashes were the leading cause of
injury-related death among young people. Beginning in 2017, however,
firearm-related injuries took their place to become the most common cause
     of death from injury.

     Kasaeva, and S. Swaminathan

Amid pandemic-related disruptions in services, tuberculosis case
notifications have plummeted and mortality has increased. The path to
recovery will require immediate, short-term steps and longer-term actions.

 * * Original Article Asthma Therapy in Black and Latinx Adults E. Israel and
     Others

Although reliever-triggered inhaled glucocorticoid therapy can reduce
asthma exacerbations, this approach has not been well studied in Black and
Latinx populations, who bear disproportionate asthma morbidity and
mortality. In a pragmatic trial involving Black and Latinx patients, the
asthma exacerbation rate was lower with reliever-triggered inhaled
glucocorticoid use than with usual care.

In 6 to 10% of patients with acute myeloid leukemia, mutant isocitrate
dehydrogenase 1 is thought to contribute to leukemogenesis. Ivosidenib is
an oral inhibitor of mutant IDH1. In a randomized trial, event-free

In a large case–control study in England, immunity to the omicron variant
was very low and less than that to the delta variant 20 weeks after the
second vaccine dose, regardless of the initial vaccine type. A booster dose
of one of the mRNA vaccines improved efficacy to approximately 65 to 70%,
but protection waned over a 10-week period.

 * * Case Records of the Massachusetts General Hospital Woman with Transient
Ischemic Attack and Mitral Valve Masses M.A. Matza and Others

A 41-year-old woman with transient dysarthria and facial droop was
evaluated for mitral valve masses. Three weeks earlier, she had heavy
vaginal bleeding with crampy abdominal pain, fatigue, and lightheadedness.

     S.L. Friedman

Autologous chimeric antigen receptor T cells, which are engineered to bind
and kill cells that express a specific antigen, are effective in the
treatment of certain cancers. A recent study involving a mouse model shows
that CAR T cells can be generated in vivo and may reduce fibrosis after
     myocardial injury.

Cancer-associated hypercalcemia often occurs late in the course of
solid-tumor development and is associated with a poor prognosis. Treatment
includes intravenous hydration followed by antiresorptive agents, typically
intravenous bisphosphonates. Successful management ultimately depends on
effective treatment of the underlying cancer.

eligible people who are incarcerated starting up to 30 days before their
release from jail or prison. Changes to this bill could bring care in these
facilities in line with community standards.
