ABOUT THIS EVENT

>

> “Perhaps the next revolution won’t be an industrial one, but an environmental
> one.” - Jonathan Thomson

Join The Beautiful Truth Magazine and special guests for an in-depth discussion
on why rewilding is an essential part of protecting our planet and solving
climate change – and how it can begin on our own doorstep. We will explore the
role that individuals, communities and businesses can play when it comes to
combating the human actions that have long threatened biodiversity.

We’ll also screen the exclusive premiere of Rewilding, a short film exploring
one man’s journey to transform a piece of land, and why rewilding plays a vital
part in protecting our planet. Learn more about our film here.

The discussion will be moderated by our Co-founder, Adam Penny, and will explore
the importance of biodiversity and the business case for rewilding, including:

 * The essential role of biodiversity in solving the problem of climate change
 * The business case for rewilding and how it can create a tangible sense of
   sustainability
 * Why large corporations should be incentivised to rewild
 * How we can deliver nature recovery and rewilding programmes at scale
 * The individual impact – how rewilding an accessible tool in the fight against
   climate change

ABOUT OUR PANELLISTS

Jonathan Thomson

Jonathan grew up on a small dairy farm in rural New Zealand and has always had a
deep connection to the natural world. Now living in the UK, he runs Underhill
Wood Nature Reserve in Wiltshire, a piece of land that he aimed to nurture to
become rich biodiversity and educate people about the natural world.

Sara King

Sara is an ecologist and Rewilding Network Lead at Rewilding Britain where she
is spearheading the development and project management of their Rewilding
Network. She has over a decade of experience and specialises in biodiversity
monitoring of species reintroductions, grazing regimes and restoration
techniques to increase biodiversity.

Ivan de Klee

Ivan has worked on farms and wildlife conservation projects around the world
from the game reserves of South Sudan to the cattle stations of Queensland
Australia. He currently works for Nattergal Ltd and the Knepp Estate, focusing
on natural capital and rewilding in order to develop conservation and rewilding
projects that are fundable and functional for businesses.

He also works with farmers and producers to help build nature corridors and
shift to regenerative and wildlife friendly farming systems.

ABOUT REWILDING, A SHORT FILM BY THE BEAUTIFUL TRUTH MAGAZINE

Jonathan Thomson had one goal in mind when he purchased 25 acres of English
countryside: to turn back time. His plan, to rewild the land and increase its
biodiversity, is increasingly being viewed as a crucial part of the fight
against climate change.

Humanity’s actions are putting biodiversity under threat – half of the world’s
wildlife has been lost in the last 40 years – yet it’s a necessity to our
survival, from providing medicines, water and food, to stabilising the earth we
walk on and the air we breathe. Biodiversity is a conversation that needs to
happen on a global scale, including on a business level.

Our short film explores his journey to rewilding Underhill Wood, and the
importance of educating the next generation to be deeply engaged in the natural
world. While rewilding is often framed as an individual venture, it can be
adopted at a business level to create meaningful impact.

> “To restore stability to our planet we must restore its biodiversity, the very
> thing that we’ve removed… We must rewild the world.” - Sir David Attenborough
