The much-awaited Robo Games 2023, powered by SLT-MOBITEL, is set to take centre
stage from October 20-22, 2023, aimed at fostering robotics knowledge and
providing an exciting platform for robot enthusiasts to showcase their skills
and innovations.
The competition will also serve as a platform to encourage creativity, improve
learning outcomes, and motivate young minds who aspire to become future
engineers and innovators.
Organized by the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the University
of Moratuwa in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL),
Robo Games 2023 will be held parallel to the Techno Exhibition taking place at
the BMICH Memorial Hall ‘B’. Notably, SLT-MOBITEL is the main sponsor for Techno
2023, recognised as the premier National Engineering and Technology Exhibition
of Sri Lanka.
The IESL Robo Games 2023 will be held under two categories: School and
University. The competition incorporates a robot, operated by a Jetson Nano
board, using a Kobuki Turtlebot 2 base and an Xbox 360 camera. It runs Ubuntu
with configured drivers for both. Teams can utilize the provided API to access
RGB camera video, depth data, and control motor velocities in their code. The
Final round for both the School and University categories, slated to be held on
October 21st and 22nd respectively, with the Techno Exhibition 2023.
As the National ICT Solutions Provider, SLT-MOBITEL recognizes the importance of
promoting innovation, particularly in the domain of robotics, enabling the
growth in aptitude and proficiencies of the future generation of professionals.
The IESL Robo Games 2023 aims to create a conducive platform where young minds
are motivated in robotic development, equipping them with essential resources,
guidance, and steadfast support.
Through these initiatives, SLT-MOBITEL seeks to fuel the spirit of innovation,
drive technological advancements, and contribute to the prosperity of the
nation. The IESL Robo Games 2023 promise to be a dynamic platform where
technology and innovation converge, offering a glimpse into the future of Sri
Lanka’s tech landscape driven by youth.
