I noticed while talking to a friend that I don’t have many of my old projects
from Facebook on here. I did download all my Facebook data before I deleted
it so here are some of my past projects over the years…

From the beginning, you know the end. The clock was first major project I
worked on in the manufacturing world. The clock face was my own design…

The rest of the clock was made by 4 others. I drew the whole thing though as
I was the draftsman in my manufacturing class.

A little side project for myself in the spare time I had in my last
manufacturing class. The Master Sword and Hylian Shield came as part of a
replica set from Twilight Princess. I made the stand the sword goes into. One
of these days I should make that look a little nicer…

Some of the first projects I did on my first 3D printer I had were ones I
   made before…

But I also made some practical prints as well such as the reverse engineering
of a handle for some broken air guns at my old job.

I don’t know if they ever did machine replacement handles/nozzles based of
   this or not…

After the short lived paid stuff… back to my creative things! This was part
of a picture frame I drew.

I never did finish painting the windmill…

   ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My bed frame I designed and built with my dad. That was a fun afternoon!

The file handles I reverse engineered

The file handle I dipped in plastidip. This handle didn’t make it through the
last few months I had it at work but it felt great! I should reprint this…

The biggest project I made on my old 3D printer and also the last personal
project I did while I was a machinist.

I still have this monster too. It works so well!

And then a mismatch of things I did for work…

A few odd ball drafting projects and the only picture I can find of my first
   3D printer…

 * Slow TimesFebruary 12, 2021

Been a while since I did anything creative, work has kept me on my toes! I
did get to draw a little for work though. We’re putting out some new
equipment into harsh environments, since I am a show runner on the project I
went ahead and drew the required equipment to protect our computers and
   tablets.

First I drew some cases to mount to beams and/or walls for the tablets being
deployed to the floor. Two the the tablets/cases are going to CNC, the other
tablet is going next to a plasma table which can spit molten metal all over!

The case for the tablets was carefully decided on how best to protect the
tablet from the plasma table. My boss and I put a plexiglass top on it and
made an oddball wall shape to help shield the tablet.

Next we had a couple computers to deploy to a machine shop. So they would
have to deal with metal dust. It was my decision to decide how we would best
   protect the computers.

The big one is going to be fully encased save for an opening that would be
against the wall so I can access the PC as needed.

The little computer is going to have a dust cover fitted to the front from
the manufacturer which means I only need to help shield the exhaust from
   metal dust.

There is lots of air flow out the side of the PC. I may have some scotchbrite
around the edges to filter that if needed.

Airflow was a major concern for my boss and I on these computers. I debated
long and hard if I should put active cooling in the case sucking air through
a filter or not. In the end I decided no active cooling would be needed as
long as the exhaust ports have a breathable mesh over them. In the big PC’s
case, there was also a need for cables to exit the case so there is a decent
sized hole for air and cables to leave.

I enjoyed drawing these, it was nice to do something out of the ordinary for
me. I will admit, it felt odd drawing for work again though. At least I
didn’t have to produce the end result this time, plus I got to draw while on
the clock, so that was nice!

Before my eldest niece’s birthday my mom enlisted my help for making an
emblem to go under a gold foil sticker for a coupon or certificate, I can’t
remember which. It was a quick and dirty job but my mom and nieces thought it
   looked great!

Now I get to make more later

I also worked on making some small things here and there. I began printing my
own combs and I also made a “wire comb” tailored specifically to my network
switch to keep my ethernet cables all nice and straight.

Of course I haven’t forgotten to work on my big projects and I got a very
long one in the works. Not picturing what I have done yet but…

   Soon… ™

I keep forgetting to order the material to paint the BR but I’ll get there
eventually. I have something cool in mind for it! There is this paint called
Rub n Buff (not sponsored) that I want to use. It look very metal like and I
think making a layer of that under a light airbrushing of black will look
amazing; especially when the airbrushed paint starts to get scratched! It
does mean the BR will be permanently fused together though. I want to reprint
some of the stock with that in mind, but that isn’t too hard to do.

 * Two sticks and a rock!October 11, 2020

The BR is finally finished printing, after a small mix up with my plastic
vendor. Next up is painting, for now; here is the BR in all its bare plastic
   glory!

 * EXTREME CLOSE UP!October 3, 2020

WHOOOOA! By request, here are 32 up close and personal shots of all the
pieces of the BR and close up differences between each side. There are some
super small changes between the “final” model I posted before and this one.
The mesh for the fore-grip required I redraw the tiny screw on the end and
the hex bolt! But this is the model that is about to be finished printing!

There will only be two more posts about the BR55 Battle Rifle project. One
when I am finished printing and have fully assembled the BR, and one when I
   have painted it!

 * “I need a weapon.”September 19, 2020

I have been working on the new BR run all week long, and made some
significant progress, not least of which, the BR is completely done being
drawn! Coming in at a staggering 3,876 individual surfaces (NURBS objects),
and over 100 hours of draw time, this model is the most detailed, and largest
model I have ever made. The model also has 10 moveable/removable objects: the
clip, the bolt, the trigger, safety, selector, and all the knobs on the scope
as well as the scope itself! Each of the mesh objects I use for printing has
anywhere from 10,000 minimum polygons (triangles) to 500,000+ polygons! You
can see the rendered BR55 Battle Rifle below

Stick around to see the printed model in the coming weeks!
