   from others, competition helps retailers improve and evolve. Look for unique
   products you are unable to compete with. This will give you an advantage over
   your competition and make you more competitive.
   
   Diversity
   
   Like everything, you have to start somewhere. It’s a smart and sensible idea
   to narrowly focus your product selection. This will help you keep marketing
   costs low. You can expand your product lines as you grow as an retailer. But
   don’t go overboard. If you do decide to expand your product category, make
   sure that it stays inline with what you currently have and is compatible with
   your business, location, and market.
   
   Private Label
   
   There are a few really good ways to ensure that your products are unique and
   can’t really be found anywhere else. You have two options: either you make
   them yourself or you partner with a small business that can manufacture the
   product for you. Private label products would allow you to brand an item that
   is made by another person.
